What is wrong with you people? Assuming that you need to double your Gear, to use it in 2 seperate Gear-Sets doesnt make sense at all.
Ever thought about the simple fact, that this would be impossible with rare/ex Items?

It honestly doesn't make sense specifically because of u/u items. There has to be a misunderstanding here.
Sorry but there I don't see how there could be a misunderstanding, here's the exact quote:
F: For gearset do we need to prepare same items for diffferent gear slots?
Y: Right now you will have to get 2 for example you have 2 gear sets to be realistic. We’re trying to make it possible but for UI it’s going to be confusing so right now we’re talking about where you can use the macro to move those items between gear sets so it’s going to bit technical. We want to ask the players and get feedback for this one.
F: So for now right now if you want same items in 2 gear sets you need to get 2 of the same item?
Y: Yes at this time that’s it but we want to get players feedback for this one.
if the gear set is a physical data set for gears, I can understand it will have limitation (cannot use same item for different gear set)
if the gear set only hold the reference for the gear (or u say "links"), it should be no problem. but the question is, where does the gear go when set into gear set? as they did not take inventory slot
Aion Zwei - Masamune
That is the translation, which was made during the Live-Letter. Of course there is the high chance of wording it wrong, so it will get a total different meaning.
The system people imply here, is simply not working with rare/ex items. Unless you can have more rare/ex items, and the mannequin is basically counted as "storage", like your retainers are right now, which would allow you to have more than one rare/ex item.
But even then.. getting more rare/ex items, just to make different gear-sets would be hilarious. So i think there is a simple missunderstanding/misstranslation/misswording.

If it is true, and this isn't just due to language differences and translation mishaps, I would obviously say I dislike this.
In my opinion, it would be the opposite of realistic to have to have two of the same item just because each one needs to be assigned to a different class.
The idea currently is that if you want to use the item in more than one set you have to change it manually, or via macro. As the system currently exists, you cannot have two of the same item in different gear sets unless you have two of the same item. This isn't a translation mistake, it was made very clear. The translation was done by a very reputable source who translates a great many things on these forums, and has received personal thanks for doing so from Yoshida himself in the past. You cant just make an argument that he's wrong based on no evidence. Even if he mistranslated a few words it's still pretty clear in lieu of the question being out right asked and answered...That is the translation, which was made during the Live-Letter. Ok, to make this more clear. You are assuming the translation from Japanese is 100% correct, so i will show you the German Translation, which came online at the same Time, to show you the difference:The idea currently is that if you want to use the item in more than one set you have to change it manually, or via macro. As you can see the translations are TOTALLY different.F: Wenn ich bestimmte Ausrüstungs-Sets für mehrere Jobs/Klassen verwenden will, muss ich dann eine Kopei davon herstellen oder kann ich ein Set für mehrere Klassen verwenden?
F: If i want to use different Gearsets for different Jobs/Classes, do i have to make a copy of it, or do i have to create a new Set for the other Classes?
A: Ihr werdet separate Ausrüstungs-Sets für alle Klassen/Jobs erstellen müssen. Aber das ist eine Funktion, zu der wir auf jeden Fall Feedback von euch während der Alpha-Phase haben möchten. Bitte probiert es aus und teilt uns mit, was ihr davon haltet.
A: You have to create seperate Sets for each Class and Job. But this is a function we would like to have feedback first, while the Alpha-Phase is going on. Please try it out and tell us what you think about it.
How do you know this is the case? I don't see that stated anywhere. We won’t be able to equip the same item in more than one set unless we have more than one of the same item.
That’s to say if you want to equip two Spinel Ring’s to your Goldsmith set, and also equip two Spinel Ring’s to your Weaver set, you will need a total of four Spinel Ring’s.
I wish they would just give us gear storage in the UI and let us link up the pieces of gear to these gear tabs they're adding. This way the gear we use doesn't take up storage and we won't need more than one of the same piece of gear to use on other tabs (minus rings, of course).
