I read it that are basically reducing everyone's money to fit the new economy.

If you take your current gil count, and knock the last digit off, that's how much you'll have in ARR

This isn't bad for anyone, regardless of how much money they have, because it happens to everyone simultaneously.

If you had 10x more cash than another player before, you will still have it after. A world wide economy change like this isn't necessarily needed, but it does make the numbers smaller and easier for everyone to deal with.

Its the difference between counting everything in pennies or pounds. except because Gil has no smaller derivative they are manually adjusting it, something easily done with a virtual currency.

The only information I saw was that they were changing the gil cap from 999,999,999 to 99,999,999. Where did you read that EVERYONE is getting their gil reduced?

No leeching, No PL'ing, just 100% playing the game.

They should be raising the cap. Banks dont have a cap, why should we. Do you have any idea how much of an inconvience this will create.

Inconvenience to who? What's the point in hoarding over 100m gil anyway? If anything, the new cap will encourage the uber rich to actually circulate their money, while making the game more accessible to new players.

In the end SE is really more concerned with the new player base of 2.0 than us transfers who would most likely stick with the game regardless.

The rich dont stay rich by spending money. Why should I spend a gil when I can make everything, and +1 it for a fraction of the cost. Also spending huge amounts hurts other players because it causes the rate of inflation to increase. So really rich people horde because they care.

But then what is the point in being rich? Bragging rights?

Rich people dont brag, they typically keep quiet so their friends dont constantly bug them for gil. I just think its wrong to limit a persons income drastically. Its means people will have to constantly transfer money to alts now, so theyre solving nothing.

Inflation doesn't work like that, bud. You injecting a bunch of money into the economy doesn't all of the sudden make everyone poor. (If it even makes it back into the economy; what would probably happen is you spend 35m on the relic bow and it goes right in to some other player's wallet to sit forever. You would have to spread it out amongst lots of sellers to even have a noticeable effect.)

Rich people horde because they view their gil as a stat they need to max out. They're not martyrs who bear the burden of wealth on behalf of the poor or something equally ridiculous.

A good example would be int iv materia. If all of them were to disappear overnight, prices would stabalize around 1 mil, maybe 1.5 because of supply and demand. Its very easy to drive up the price in one area of the wards if you have the gil to do it Or buy out one section and reprice everything. Like when I bought out healers hand iv a few months ago, people were griping because there were none left and prices shot up to 600k per materia after.
