reducing gil cap from 1b to 1m

    Why would you do this?

For one, I'm sure there are many people who have gil over what the new cap will be. So these people will now be forced to store gil on retainers and buy more of them if they want to keep more money?

There are items in the game that already sell for tens of millions. A cap of 99,999,999 is not high enough for people dealing in this kind of stuff.

I'm not one of those people (I'm always broke) but I've played other games where the maximum amount of money proved to be a serious problem.

And -edit- yes, I did mean 100m. If a moderator could please change my topic title to "reducing gil cap from 1b to 100m" I'd really appreciate that.

It sells for tens of millions because people are selling them for tens of millions because people are apparently willing to buy them for tens of millions... If people can't price them for tens of millions because people won't have tens of millions, you won't need tens of millions...

If you already have 100 million gil though, you have a problem.

And there are people who do.

Which is honestly too bad so sad, they'll still have maxed gil when it gets chopped down.

Except your retainers and other characters also have their own banks. So people who didn't think to split all their money across their retainers and other characters are punished.

just a shot in the dark here but I'm gonna guess maybe it has to do with possible RMT? So by reducing the cap it will stop people from amassing hundreds of millions and selling them from a 3rd party site to new players who are overwhelmed by the high prices when starting. It will make it more achievable for them to get ahold of stuff with out resorting to forking cash over to some other guy and not SE. It should balance out the market to a more reasonable economy. 1 million might be a bit low imo, but 1 billion is way to high for sure. I would say somewhere around 4-5 million would be good.

It makes absolutely no difference if items are also priced at 10% less of a cost.

People can go on a spending spree and get as much as they can before ARR.

I read it that are basically reducing everyone's money to fit the new economy.

If you take your current gil count, and knock the last digit off, that's how much you'll have in ARR

This isn't bad for anyone, regardless of how much money they have, because it happens to everyone simultaneously.

If you had 10x more cash than another player before, you will still have it after. A world wide economy change like this isn't necessarily needed, but it does make the numbers smaller and easier for everyone to deal with.

Its the difference between counting everything in pennies or pounds. except because Gil has no smaller derivative they are manually adjusting it, something easily done with a virtual currency.
