The animation makes this game special, without it they are removing something that is vital to the reason I currently and will continue to pay to play this game for.

If they start cutting corners without promising us something in the long run, I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to 2.0

Nah, let's just bring Tanaka back so we can kill squirrels til cap with all our "friends" of the 15k subs! That's what XIV needs! It'll be successful guys seriously! We don't need good hardware or a modernized gameplay engine! Archaic and clunky is fun!
You want fluid animations you play something that isn't an MMO. I can't think of anything that runs like current XIV with a good response time for PvP or even PvE. The second you get KO'd while "realistically turning around to face thy opponent!" you'll be wishing there was a faster reaction time.

Knock on me all you like, it's my opinion and my vote. All that's left is to hope, and come v2.0 launch day, if they haven't reconsidered, hope I can stomach the loss.
I'm sharing your thoughts. Let's hope this concern gets to Yoshida and the devs so at least they're aware and hopefully will have a discussion on this matter.

I don't know. But it would probably be just for your character and not for everyone else's. Would that really make you feel better? It would probably just be weird.

Are you really going to throw out all the good things about ARR just because they took out a few animations?
If it has nothing to do with deadlines, then you're telling me that Square concientiously made the decision to skimp out on animation to make it more like 'The MMO standard'. When I hear 'standard' I hear unoriginal and safe. Standardizing the UI? Fine, I get that, makes it smooth and familiar to play. Standardizing gameplay? No. I don't want what is essentially the same experience with a new skin. That's cheap and lame.

I don't see why it has to be for only my character. That just seems like an arbitrary limit. Not that it wouldn't be an improvement.

The only thing I'm actually looking forward to in ARR at this point is the new world I'll explore for a while. If the game fails to impress me beyond that, I'll likely quit. I don't need another money sink for something I only find mildly interesting.

It's comments like this that drive me up a wall. Where did Rukirri say this? What did she say? Do we need another quote? You are making up a bunch of false scenarios based on your preconceived ideas and prejudiced attitude based on the mistakes made in 1.0.

You have a very active imagination. I suggest you use it to imagine the extra step they're taking out of your precious animations.

Whaaaat?? But how does animations stop them from focusing on mechanics?? The animations weren't just 'nice', they were downright spectacular, and made the movements look so realistic that I never thought my characters looked weird moving around (where as chocos don't have the animations, and I notice how weirdly they come to a stop all the time).

    ; ; I am so disappointed...

How is a mechanical jutting around a more fluid experience? Speeding up the ease on the animation or simply allowing you to cut out of the animation with another movement would be a simple way to make it work with faster controls.

Hey. You're the one who said they made the decision way beforehand. Why else would they remove animation if but to meet the standard?

    1.0 was "decided already".
The horrible random server transfer idea was "decided already".
Color based stats on clothing was "decided already".

Yoshi and his crew aren't saints. They're just as human as Tanaka was.
