Speaking of Valkyrie Profile - I always wanted to pop off more body parts then just a horn or skeleton head. Dragon tails anyone? Everyone knows chopping off a dragon tail gives you a weapon...(Demon/Dark Souls)
That was such a waste of potential.
Instead of adding game specific and relevant to story kind of enemies they just devolved to lowest common denominator.
Remember FFX's dark aeons and the monster keeper?
What about XII's hunts?
There's a way to add content that is a homage to FF tradition without doing a cheap copy of something we've already seen.
This is part of the reason we still get excited about chocobos, summons and moogles. They're always designed with the story and world in mind.
I love for example FF VIII's shiva but it would be an insult to XIV and the memory of VIII if it was just copy pasted here.
Also the lack of any respect for creativity as a dev is really depressing.
You have kh and dissidias isn't that enough?
I honestly look at the rest of game indistry and all I see is an avalanche of sequels an re-makes getting greenlit and bought in the millions.
Before XIII the FF series was like a beacon of originality with every game re-inventing battle systems, worlds and characters.
Now instead of seeing variety gamers actually demand more of the same. Rant over.
So, you are saying FFXIV will not carry the traditional FF concepts and ideals into it's game? So far, it's same story is intact and a lot of references to previous titles doesn't necessarily make it copy/paste. FFIX would be a good example of this. It used a ton of references and names from previous games as a celebration for the series, while at the same time giving an original FF feel to it. I believe FFXIV is taking this same approach, celebrating FF's years by making a "very FF" online game. While FFXI was certainly a worthy FF title to me, it did have a hard time giving you that feeling beyond jobs and moogles till you got more into the game. That was such a waste of potential.

In short, this is a fan service game, the head developer literally says that, so might just have to deal with it.
That part made me lol cause FF13 and 12 was the only one to actually change the battle system the rest just added sprinkles on top of it.That was such a waste of potential.

MOOMBAS!!!!!
the battle system was always the same , with the ATB more or less , in the X you could see who will act when but it's the same as ATB just easier to see the order , 12 is still ATB and 13 just add skills that use 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 or 5 atb instead of having one bar .
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
ATB in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Then at 10 we saw a change to a turn based system, 10-2 added dresspheres and changing jobs in battle so 10 was the first real change.
I have heard that too much Rannie, no more lol
Ok, so basically, you don't know what ATB is.
ATB means that every character has a separate bar to decide when they could play.
FF I, II, III and IV are turn based (Except for the DS remake of IV) and you can't change the order in combat.
Not to encourage hair splitting but are people actially comparing VII and VIII battle and leveling systems as the same? Even I II and III turned the tables but that's just details.
