1.23 Imperial Event

Has anyone beat the H1 and elites without using the "leash" method? If so, how? What was your party setup? etc.

We killed the pack a couple times by PLD holding H1, WAR grabs the pack of imperials, BLM sleeps all of them, and you peel 1 off at a time. Aside from the 1 pld 1 war the rest are 2-3 WHM and rest BLM with lots of macc. We always made sure to kill Medicus 1st, then the Warrior(cant member name) 2nd. From there just pick which ones you kill and control the crowd with your WAR and sleep.

Those that aren’t currently in a linkshell capable of taking on these special units head on may rest easy! The rewarded hats from this event are not dependent on who has claim of the enemy! Simply go out and team up with your fellow adventurers for a chance at some great equipment! If you get lucky you’ll see one appear in your loot pool!

Yeah, I'll take that with a large grain of salt. I spent 4-5 hours at this yesterday even when I couldn't get in a party or get LS people to attend. Not a single drop. Therefore, I call BS.

Could maybe the lack of imperials be related to the airships? I could swear they were flying close to the earth before, now they are a distant blurr.

That's actually a good point. I haven't heard the airships at all today, and haven't seen any imperials.

So hearing from several people that party with killing blow gets drops from these?

Anyone else confirm this.... because if that is so SE needs to patch this asap. If they actually did this they outdid themselves by actually making a worse distribution system then was already in the game.

Why work together or even do it as a linkshell. Go with 8 people as blm wait for it to be at 2-3% all blms in your party cast the instant cast thunder spell... get all the rewards.

I sure hope this is wrong... or a bug from SE that will be addressed quickly. Either that way or this even is best done by screwing over those who are actually fighting it.

Wouldn't worry much about it for the moment, they haven't spawned at ALL today on Durandal, at least not at Broken Water. And the parties I saw yesterday seemed to be doing a very efficient job of dominating the event and screwing over the unpartied people. Has anyone seen the mobs come up anywhere today?

Seeing as the usual fighting method has been to continuously leash the mobs, it's possible some parties merely stole claim.
