Also, are you able to tell they're up or not in some way as soon as you teleport to the camp where they are? Someone wrote there was Van Darnus music playing, but dont know if it "can be heard" even near the aetheryte crystal.

the area around aether will change music, and yes you can hear it from aether aswell.
And once you get ther you will notice lot of Imperials around thats normally isnt there.

It doesn't play Darnus music, it plays the "Garlean" theme (since it's used for more than where Darnus is even involved) and yes it plays at the zone the camp is in if not the entire area, but I only did the ones at dragonhead area.

Black Shroud spawn is just south of Crimson Bark heading towards Turning Leaf where you fight moogles. Ran by them by Chance helping LS mates kill the NMs and get Turning leaf Gate

Has the event been up at all since like 7est yesterday? Haven't seen it.

Has anyone beat the H1 and elites without using the "leash" method? If so, how? What was your party setup? etc.

We killed the pack a couple times by PLD holding H1, WAR grabs the pack of imperials, BLM sleeps all of them, and you peel 1 off at a time. Aside from the 1 pld 1 war the rest are 2-3 WHM and rest BLM with lots of macc. We always made sure to kill Medicus 1st, then the Warrior(cant member name) 2nd. From there just pick which ones you kill and control the crowd with your WAR and sleep.
