hopefully they mean that they are going to scale down the character when entering the dungeon.
Like here in FFXI for example at shiva boss fight (you can see a level down icon)

I can only imagine level sync will work the same as xi level sync where when you are in the party, you go to the party menu and choose which party member to sync too. As already said level sync != capped content.
Doesn't mean they aren't doing that as well but level sync will be purely voluntary like you have a friend thats 12 your 45 want to level that job and party with your friend, you join a party with him/her and now you can set your class to 12 and still get xp for it.
It blows my mind that anyone is opposed to level sync. That being said, it appears the main objection some people have is level capped content -- such as XI BSNM's and such.
If you look at XI, and all that juicy content that was there to grind and enjoy, think of how useless it would all become if they did not impose a cap?
People be so scared of a challenge these days.
Modifying the active stats of gear to be on par with gear of the sync level is scaling down.
Here is the funny part about this thread. Any one else remember how optimal gear use to work? yea there is your answer.

Level caps are only good for story arcs and quest lines, or things you progress through. A random, capped dungeon? Seems awkward. Whenever I'm doing leves on a lower level class and I see an open world NM I switch over to r50 and see if I get anything that might be useful, borderline same concept. I don't feel like a bad person after.. It's what you might call an advantage I gain for putting in the time to get a r50 in the first place.
Me personally im all for level sync as it was in ffxi. We're gonna have alot of new people and my best friend is going to play at ps3 release, so yeah in that aspect im for it.
Ifrit type battle in the easy mode is alright i suppose.
Only issue i have with level sync (and my biggest gripe with gw2) is level capping areas. Lets say for instance i want to level leatherworking and i want to farm all my mats. Why should i be punished for wanting to farm low level mobs? If ive earned that level and gear i should be able to use it everywhere. If they implement level capped areas as ive described alot of players will just choose not to go there. We already are going to have a huge gap between legacy and 2.0 players, i dont want to see it get larger.
So m suggestion would be just implement voluntary level sync and if they have to do things like easy ifrit capped go ahead. Plz dont level cap areas.
When people have spent 3-4 days shouting in Uldah with no response, it's all about moving ahead at that point. Any fun is overwhelmingly replaced with relief. Besides, like I said, they can always go back.
its like giving the option to PL someone. and giving people options will lead them to do the easiest way in the end.. which will be "ah well i'll rush you through and shut up". like giving people the options to skip all story cutscenes, in the end they all skip those scenes.
and giving the option to PL newbies instead they level on their own .
no one PL'd me either when i was a newbie.
ouh thats the people i like the most ouuh "i checked your pad".... ^^
im saving those other classes for 2.0. because i dont want to make a twink. and on the other hand i want these 3 jobs to be my main jobs/classes. if i would have all leveled to 50 i would have also been ask for playing WAR or whatever, which i dont enjoy at all. thats the point.
not everybody has the aim of having all classes at 50. like in other MMorpgs not everyone wants to play every class, you know.
Yes we need less options, everything should be forced and no one should be able to choose....... no freedoms! No liberties!
yeah I noticed that as well with GW2, good thing I play thief and mobs melt lol.Me personally im all for level sync as it was in ffxi. We're gonna have alot of new people and my best friend is going to play at ps3 release, so yeah in that aspect im for it.
