I honestly can't wait to jump continuously ... XD .. joke but ... please, I understand your concerns, but set limits is useless. Let's play for fun!
So you're saying Miquotes should be able to jump about 20 feet in the air to maintain realism, since they're .. you know.. cats.
Watching the gameplay videos that have thus far been released, every time someone jumped for no real reason other than simply for the sake of jumping it felt out of place in the general aesthetic of final fantasy games. Especially when the lalafells jumped, the relative height of their jump compared to their body height was really jarring to look at for me.
Maybe I am the only person that feels this way? What does other people think?
Also, when the chocobos jumped at gamescom, people ooed, aahed, and took lots of pictures. People like jumping more than they hate seeing it. It will not kill your game experience.
Player
I don't see the big deal about jumping... >.> seriously I rather feel my character has more motion and the ability to parkour around then not having the ability at all D=
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
How about Jumping slows down your movement speed by 3secs. This way players on chocobo spaming jump while riding are effected by travel.
Or can only do 3 jumps every 10 or 20 seconds.
Hardly. The point illustrated is that your penchant for "quality" input would make you an excellent candidate for that position! I am only trying to urge you to your true calling, please, take no offense.
Wow, if jumping and its associated animations are of this much of a concern to you, I'd be positively wetting myself in anticipation for your views on both /sit and /dance

I took it more as the developers' way of saying "eat this, Jump haters! Eat this and like it!".
This thing about aesthetic is being applied to the wrong thing. If PLD AF was a black suit of armor with a stick lit on fire, then you can complain about aesthetic. If WHM AF was a BDSM outfit with black frills, then you can complain about aesthetic. If BLM AF was a potato sack, then you can complain about aesthetic. Jumping is nowhere near threatening FF's aesthetic.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
