A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
Thing is, the exact opposite happened because everyone picked the best skills of all the classes and became identical to each other.Ok, I HAVE to inject my two cents because I was silent when people were first starting to revile the class system at the initial launch of 14. I was silent because I wasn't aware of the raging debate that was being held on the forums. I was just playing the game and figuring out what could be done with it. I cannot be silent any longer because the game has already been drastically changed due to the vocal people on the forums. And I believe that the vocal people on the forums do not necessarily represent the majority of the players.
I MISS the classes as they were originally intended. They were originally designed to allow you a measure of freedom you don't normally see in games. You could level any class and combine skills from multiple classes. Yes, the classes were basic as designed, but by leveling different classes and combining skills in your own way, you could create a truly original character. But, the vocal individuals on the forum apparently didn't understand this or didn't appreciate the genius that was and the freedom they had been given. Instead of learning about the different skills and coming up with imaginative ways to combine them, you all wailed and raged to the heavens that someone give you a specific JOB that limits you to playing in the exact same way you've been playing for your entire gaming careers. Instead of embracing an open system of fighting, you wanted a specific path only.
Now, before you go on the attack, let me tell you that I don't care what you say about me. I just want my voice to be heard if SE is still reviewing these forums. I appreciated what the class system was trying to do. I still appreciate it, but to a lesser extent than before because so many abilities were either taken out or made class/job specific. I can understand that this was necessary for the jobs that you people (yes, you people) requested. However, I miss the freedom I had previously. I can also understand that the specialized jobs are great for specific situations, but not all of them.
If you prefer the XI job system, then play XI. If you prefer things a specific way, go find a game that gives you what you want. I wanted to play XIV and devise interesting skill combinations, I had no problem with the game as it was originally presented (with regard to the class system, I admit the UI sucked). Because I enjoyed the game as it was and saw no reason to try to whine about it, the gaming experience as I originally anticipated it has been ripped away forever. And that's why I'm replying to this thread. I'm tired of reading the whining, moaning and recriminations against SE.
SE, I miss the original class system and I see what you were trying to do with it. SE, the more I see of 2.0 the more excited I am. You guys have worked damn hard at this game and I appreciate your hard work and ingenuity. PLEASE, keep in mind that the vocal people on the forums are NOT your entire fan base. I think the lighting in 2.0 is spectacular, and I think someone should thank you for all of your hard work. Thank you!
PS. I really hope you plan to release that 25 year box set thingy to the US as well. I'll gladly give you my money for that!
Yeah because having to go all the way back to your mog house or town with nomad moogles, as opposed to being able to class-change in the field whenever you want is so much more convenient.
And I think DRK will probably be a job for MRD. It's possible it will get its own class but I feel as though it'd better off using MRD as the base with THM or LNC as the secondary (and ultimately using all 3). Regardless of how they do it, I just don't want to see scythes come back.
Can we PLEASE ditch that stupid stereotype already? The scythe is not a weapon I repeat NOT A WEAPON it's a freaking farmer's tool (and BOT already uses them as a sub tool).
Greatsword could work, but I really do feel Axe is better because the great axe better conveys the notion of being a dark figure/executioner. It fits the DRK motif so much better.
A war scythe is a regular scythe that has been adapted for combat use by re-attaching the blade parallel to the haft, rather than perpendicular to it, so that it looks like a bill. After the German Peasants' War during 1524–1525, a fencing book edited by Paulus Hector Mair described in 1542 techniques how to fence using a scythe.[14]. War scythes were widely used by Polish and Lithuanian peasants during revolts in the 18th and 19th centuries.[citation needed]
Uh huh, still not very practical compared to a proper spear or even a halbred.
Or you know, there was this nifty weapon that was really popular for a long time because it just kinda tore everyone to shit - the claymore.
The only reason scythes are used as weapons in RPGs is due to the whole Grim Reaper obsession, even though in the case of the reaper it's a symbolic thing. I'm not saying what you posted is wrong just, the scythe really is a poor choice for a weapon and it's an overused cliche.
Totally right. The collective 20 mins of gameplay footage released so far in which a character is actually engaged in combat and not just running around on a chocobo or jumping randomly in town was totally enough time, having never actually played it yourself, to decide its exactly the same. Not to mention never having seen 90% of the skills for other jobs, how long effects last, stat changes, ect. No, no, no.... YOU sir are the worlds greatest detective and I would like to subscribe to your quaterly journal.Probably but you get the drift.
Aside from the limit break system, and the fact that you don't need tp to use weapon skills. It all looks pretty much the same to me from the game play footage I've seen. Even if they changed every skill in the game it seems to me like their efforts would be better spent on tossing the class system our and adding some of the entirely unique and traditional jobs to the game.
I just don't get what it's all for. The class system was the original design teams concept, and it was not well received. Then they decided to add jobs, but they kept the class system around for what reason? I think it was to keep people who were playing the game and liked the class system happy too, but it's just a crappy system imo and a waste of time/effort when they could be working on adding more new jobs.
Player
Why are people even bashing or criticsing the idea of a class/job that we know nearly nothing about?
