Every time SE adds a new class, Classes become much stronger every time eventually its gonna be hard to balance. Like when FF XI first came out the subjob system pretty much was sucky for a lot of classes like whm, blm sub was just an mp boost and that's it , and it was still that for a long time. for rdm, blm/whm sub wasn't useful at first (50 cap) cause of the skills also. Just because you don't feel you need classes in the current version doesn't mean they are not replacing the second version to make jobs harder to solo.

there's nothing wrong with the class/job system, the issue lies with jobs being nothing but carbon copies of there class counter part. they need to disassociate the two an archer is not a Bard, a Gladiator is not a Paladin etc etc.. they can keep classes as they are "starter jobs" but need there own unique skill set....much like the skills that each class had before they removed them.

A conjurer summons up the elements, a thurmaturge uses dark arts to manipulate there foes, a gladiator uses arts of war to win battles, etc etc. A White mage uses the power of the elementals to ease suffering, A Blackmage uses the power of the dark arts to cause destruction and mayehm, a paladin defends allies & people from harm.

Firion arc and mrd may do more damage but for job wise war and brd have their own usefulness like the green song for restoring mp (the refresh of the game) and war peaon as well as the red song for the dd's

That's the point.. ARC looses dmg to buff the pt, MRD looses dmg to protect the pt that's the point of the class/job system.... I still think the penalty for switching to job should be a bit more harsh like whm nukes doing little to no dmg at all.

Edit: Hell even Gla looses dmg when switching to pld.

I completely disagree. There is nothing wrong with the current system or the "penalties" that apply.

Instead of further punishing the use of jobs, which is just silly, it would be far better to add more jobs to the existing classes as we continue on.

Classes as they are are perfectly fine - there's no reason to put any sort of major emphasis on them, it's far more exciting to do that with the jobs instead. It's Jobs that are the real attraction, which classes basically standing as the framework or foundation for which to build the jobs upon. Yeah, it might be nice to see them more viable because of the much more open customization options they offer, but that also creates lots of unnecessary headaches for balance reasons.

Some times it will be required to add new classes for some jobs to exist, such as Ninja or Samurai, but for things like Dark Knight or Red Mage it's far simpler, and IMO more satisfying, to just change up what's already there.

This again? Classes are going to be more PVP and solo "ready" does that mean that you CAN'T solo on a job? no.

Jobs are co-op content related. Teamwork yada yada. Also ALL the jobs got MORE skills for ARR so their usefulness did go up, however since battle system has been changed and is STILL changing, Class perks have yet to be revealed. ARN and SMN is a good example of the difference in direction they see class and Job. SMN grabs essence of the Primals and ARN is a Tank/Caster class with Carby. That doesn't mean SMN isn't, but that doesn't mean SMN will use Carby for DoT, so that in itself is quite different.

As for current classes, the only limitations I see at the moment is in the weaponry (Like Scythe or Great swords) , they can always add more skills to a job to enhance its uniqueness.

@Firion not like you have to use the jobs but also if you think of it this way. Pld may not do as much damage but they're equipped with heal to keep hate switching to jobs of course you'll lose something since you're mastering a certain thing. Did you play archer and do the bard quest? He gave up his right to fight to sing and help people not to kill. Point of the matter is for classes you want to be stronger and such because otherwise you'll be dead in an instant. You don't SOLO on BRD. I've tried and died many times. Because it's geared more towards parties and to help out. Same with war. You don't want the war to take over the pld as a tank (though some people do because I think they're still trying to balance pld out) Split it up as people say Classes=soloable jobs=party specific for most of the time.

No it isn't. ARC is for ARCher.

ArCaNist is a different class entirely.
