Pretty sure speed run chest is still going to be there so be prepared lol. They probably only took out the achievement because there's going to be new loot rules or something.
Better get your speedrun achievements soon ;p

Speed run in av/cc gets you the fifth chest, not an increased chance at drop. Wish it did but it doesn't.

Always hated that dungeons had time limits and always hated the speed-run concept. You cant even really admire the dungeon because of these things. I've only been in AV and CC for AF pieces, but I've been totally ignoring completing the dungeon because its all just stupid bum rushing to the end. Thought it was all stupid since darkhold was released, and cant wait to see it go.

Get off your high horse. I've done speed runs, 16 minute runs and all that jazz. Just because someone dislikes it doesn't mean they are gimp and can't do it. It's stupid and has to go. It's not conducive to team-play with random people nor is it conducive for class balance. People should be rewarded for clearing content not blasting through it as quickly as possible. Again, get off your high-horse, you sound like a colossal prick which is not what this community needs at this point in time. We shouldn't ridicule people who may not have the time or ability to consistently get speed runs.
There are other ways to make the game challenging beyond speed runs. All this does is open up the game to be more accessible for people who want to do content but lack the time and ability to get a static run to do it with.
I played WoW for a bit during what many describe as the golden era of Launch/Burning Crusade and one of the best things about that game that I remember to this day was that I could grab a random group of people and tackle content relatively well with whatever classes the people were. Sure we couldn't accomplish it as fast as some of the elite groups but it was a great feeling being able to clear content with what was at hand. This indeed looks like it will be the case with 2.0. Sure certain Linkshells will aim to clear content as fast and as efficiently as possible which is great, but those who do not will not be punished for being a tad slower. It's common sense and good game design really.
Also, I would wager that the current trend of 'burnout' in 1.0 FFXIV is due to Speed Runs. Nothing in this game burns you out faster than grinding speed runs (except maybe Hamlet), day after day in AV/CC. Nothing.

Why on earth would anyone consider completing somthing in half the time as whats aloted for an event as being "skill full"? OP? maybe, experianced with that content?, Sure, but skill full? NO. I remeber letes on xi could log off the game for months, come back with a new expansion and still be lete knowing nothing about the new content. Its not because they had perfected the strat, or had op gear, or had a awsome group to carry them through the event. Its because they were skilled with their specialzed jobs.
There is a clear difference between having the time to spam content till you know every aspect that you can exploit and every corner you can cut till you are clearing said content in super fast times. And then acually knowing and perfecting your particular speciality to the point where you can perform superbly no matter the situation your are put in. The differance is having an obsurd amount of time on your hands to spam content and then acually being skilled at your speciality. That reason alone is enough to declare speed runs as irelivant to testing skill of a player, to be condisending to another player because they have a life outside of ffxiv just proves your that guy
lol it's not require skill-ful to complete speed run? how you rate those cant complete speed run?
i laughed @ the 2 likes, Aceo made my day. Thanks for the int you showed.
