It doesn't say they get priority, but if that's the case, I'm assuming they want to get media in before the masses.

It's likely a limited number sign-up, and they will be holding more sign-ups such as this.

If someone's willing to travel all the way to Germany and spend lots of money in the process, i say give em priority.
They earned it... and for the few dozen locals who might live nearby.. bonus for them i guess.

The thing is US has about 10x the player base that plays these games. Based on the last goblin giveaway FFXI contest SE held, US got 10x the amount of prizes over EU players. Which would lead me to believe there is 10 to 1 ration of US to EU players.

I could see them wanting to promote there more but Germany where very few people play FFXIV there, if you look at the German forums on this site they are pretty dead.

prolly true, but if you wanna win over the big crowd from
games such as WoW etc, you need to come to europe.
and well...germany is more or less smack middle of europe.

Just because its in germany dosent mean it only affects germans, it affects other
Eu countries aswell, such as russia, france, uk, sweden, norway, finland etc...
