Summoning rarely remains a constant system in the final fantasy world, and I'd think that anyone familiar with the series should be cognizant of that reality, you'll just have to wait and see how you like the approach they want to try with this version. Again, if you really hate it, and enough people feel the same (~30 posters on some thread isn't enough), the beta is an excellent place to get changes implemented.
I invite you to read the original post where there is no mention whatsoever of the summoner class. This thread is about the new primal system, not SMN.

The post I was quoting from Theplatter mentioned the job, but that's mostly semantics seeing as we're talking about a system here. Summoner as a job has been mentioned before, albeit usually in the larger scope of the system they are conceptualizing. I'm also not only referring to you specifically, there are others who talk about this and reference the job itself, some of them in this thread as well. It's the general attitude amongst those who are concerned about summoning and summoner as a whole that I'm speaking towards, and I'm cautioning against "knowing" that the system will be a pain in the ass until it's proven to be a pain in the ass (probably in the beta) and at which point we can influence it to change.
