Oh okay I understand. You're just saying what you would like to see done with summons in 2.0Ohh my english is so bad ; o ;
Of course I don't have the solids informations.
I just wanted to speak of things I would accept in order to have multiples and permanents Ifrits.
(like a big LS shared recast time, or a big amount of items to offer to the Primal in order to make him come)
More like players will try to hide or mislead other linkshells as to their status. I get the feeling this will lead to anything but cooperative communication across competing shells.
Well this information is only a month old. From my search I was unable to find any other threads on the topic, so I feel that I'm fully entitled to start one.
I'm glad you're looking forward to the content. I'm not against the idea of summoning them either, it's cool I guess, but what I was getting as is what's the point supposed to be? I don't think many people are going to bother to go through all the trouble to camp a primal every two weeks, and then do all the work to be able to actually summon it afterwards just to see a flashy animation and some nice dmg.
I expect you're right, but considering Fenrir usually exists in the same relm as Shiva and the others, I was kind of expecting to see something different for SMN. Like maybe the Summons from FFXII.
Don't be ^^
Exactly my thoughts as well.

Does not matter when the world is alerted to when a summon is used and is available again to recapture. It'll be impossible to hide the status of it.
To top it off, a simple interface tweak to check the status of the Summon (Like we check the status of our entry retimers) can fix that issue entirely.
I do not mind this summoning system, if it is accompanied by a lesser summon system for players who want to play the Summoner Job.
I believe the concept of making these more famous creatures truely godlike and an accomplishment to obtain and summon is a step in the right direction concerning the end-goal of making repeatable content enjoyable rather than simply loot-whoring.
Here is a goal that players will want to do over and over again, because having this beast at your beck and call is a temporary thing, but the prestigious feeling of having it will be well noted and an accomplishment to do so. "We have Shiva!" Will be a triumphant call for linkshells to make and summon where needed.
Will there be heated competition over them? Sure. But there are 6 basic elements in play here. That means six Free Companies will have a shot at them. With only two weeks to use them, that means it'll be pretty frequent when one is up for grabs, and your top linkshells won't be able to hoard them because they likely will have their own.
Granted, not all 6 primals will be out at the start, I don't think. But those paying attention to the lore realize that at the very least there are 7 present in the world, at the start of a Realm Reborn so we can expect them to come out as time goes on.
If anything, it'll be a wonder to see if Odin will be among those we can attempt to claim.
My experience with open bosses. A PAIN IN THE FU##*#%+ ASS.Here's a link to the full interview
Okay so I'm going to try to keep my post from being overwhelmingly negative as best I can. Let's talk about this new primal summoning system. I've been thinking a lot about it since I read this interview. What's the point of it?
One of the potential uses for a summon I came up with is that they might be used to take down HNMs that would be otherwise nearly impossible to defeat without them. Which means, everyone would compete with other groups to get the primal, spend a bunch of time doing stuff in order to summon it, and then use it to try to kill a HNM... While everyone else waits approximately two weeks for it to be used so they can get another chance. I don't really like this idea.
The other idea that crossed my mind was that they could be used just like they were in other games in the final fantasy franchise. One hit powerful attacks and that's it. If this is the case, seems like there would be really no reason to put forth the effort of obtaining them, so I rather doubt it.
I guess It could also be possibility that in addition to the summon being a powerful attack/buff, by using a it during certain boss encounters the group would have a chance of obtaining rarer loot that wouldn't otherwise drop? I don't know, that seems to be stretching it.
I really can't think of any other possibilities, and to be honest I'm not too satisfied with the ideas I've come up with. The fact that Yoshida says this is what he's most looking forward to in 2.0 really has me curious.
What are everyone's thought on the subject?
I hope that's not what's coming at 2.0.
What is this about cheapening? Where did you guys get that? That's just a lame excuse not to have content added by making us waste time not having fun instead of having it.
Listen to what I will say. Even of they launch 10 summons, people will find out which one is the best and two things will happen:
1. You won't ever get it because of farmers.
2. You will be forced to fight for lesser summons just for the sake of "having"
I don't like that vision on summoning at all. I would rather have a cheapened system where I can weak tiny ifrit's.
As long as the summoner job with its own dynamic and versatile avatars comes out, I could care less about the one-use open world summons.
^^^
I'm still in the mind that the one-use summons will cause nothing but drama, but like many before me have said, we'll only know when it gets here.
This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.As much as it might hurt you, and as much as someone else brings the balance issues up, FFXI had the jobs right. And, you know, this is a FF, and I don't see you guys complaining about people asking for WoW things. So please.
Also, it's not like this dev team is being true to the roots of the jobs anyway.
Don't really like it at all, but not completely passing judgement just yet.
I would rather have avatars as pets ala FFXI then go with this whacky "Beat the summon to earn a temporary win button" setup. Done properly, it doesn't have to "cheapen" the summons.
