    [Dev 1011] Failing Guildleves Intentionally?

    [Dev 1011] Failing Guildleves Intentionally?
So I've noticed something kind of weird going on that people seem to do alot, and I'm wondering if it is an intended game mechanic or not. Would be nice if an SE rep would chime in if possible.

What I've noticed is people failing battle guildleves intentionally. I've never done it myself, but I think the reason they do it is because they can still get full sp for it, then reattempt it the next reset and get full sp for it again, with the chance that they will receive the same leve again, for even MORE sp.

Now this, to me, seems borderline exploit. I'm not sure if this is the way the game is supposed to be played, but people failing leves on purpose because they get more sp that way seems to be against the way the game is supposed to be played.

Devs, is the game supposed to allow you to retry a guildleve that you have failed? If so, why can you only do it with battle leves and not crafting leves?

I wish the Dev's would chime in here and let us know if this is an intended game feature, and if not, what they intend to do about it. A simple fix would be to make it so that if you fail a leve, battle or crafting, you do not get a chance to retry it at all. If I'm not mistaken this is the way crafting leves already work. Why should it be different for battle leves?

I'll reemphasize, it just seems contrary to the spirit of the game when you are in a party and players constantly say, "wait let me run back and fail this leve, then we can keep sp'ing". People should not be able to intentionally fail leves to gain more sp than they normally would if they completed those leves.

This was brought up in a previous thread but it seems to have been ignored by the Dev's and community in general. I did not get any response from SE community relations team in the Guildleve section of the forum so I am reposting in General Discussion which it seems like they read more often.

You're forgetting one point - if you get disconnected, you instantly fail a leve. Imagine you've been waiting weeks for a leve that rewards archer marks and then you fail it cuz the game crashed at the very last mob lol

That fix to retry a leve was to fix this. I'm sure they'll address this so that if you get DC'd you can retry, but if you fail, you cannot. Probably when they address the issu that you have to wait like 10 minutes to get bck on the game when DC'd ;P

I Can't speak for everyone but in my case, its not so much about getting more sp/xp from the same leve but rather having good leves when i do guild leve pts. To wait 36h for reset to get complete trash leves is a waste of my time, then i would have to wait another 36h for the chance of getting good leves. Its just easier for me to fail the good leves and do them again during reset.

Also you have to remember that most of these leves that people fail only give good sp/xp when it has at least 2 links; even if you fail the leve, then during reset u get the same leve again, sure you have the option to do it twice but that does not mean that everyone in your party also got the same leve again to do a 2nd run.

We still have a button "Abandon levequest". If they wanted us to be able to retry the leve only if we fail it due to DC, then i don't really see the purpose of that button. They could have simply not add that option, and still have leves up for retry next reset if we failed.

Another problem is...even if they do that...people could still "force dc" and miss that last mob or two, and have the leave ready for next reset.

I don't see what's there to address, they give us an option to abandon leve...but we're not supposed to use it?

Excuse my curiosity, but can you elaborate how you can 'notice' if someone abandons his leve? You said "but I think the reason they do it is..." That implies that you were not told about it by others.

"What I've noticed" was used as a figure of speech. I was told about by LS members and have seen them do it. I just don't really know 100 percent why its done, I know somehow you get more SP but I've never been told exactly how that comes about. I assume its because you can keep the same leve after reset, then if you get it again you have it twice in the same reset? Also, if you kill all the mobs, then fail, and you can keep it, isn't that double sp for the same leve?

I'm a bit ignorant because I don't do combat leves often.

Oh btw, "but I think the reason they do it is" implies that I don't know for sure why people do it. That's all it implies. Doesn't mean I wasn't told about the FACT that it's done from someone else. Just not the reason WHY it is done.

you should ask them the next time you play, this way you will know for sure.
i have not heard of getting bunus SP when you retry a leve. Maybe its more about playing a certain leve again because the quest happens to have a lot of mobs (more SP) and useful drops? i don't really see harm in it...

I was mainly hoping for someone from SE to post in here about their official opinion on it.

It's really simple. Some leves simply give more SP than others due to difficulty of mobs and their number like...Dunes, ACU, RR, Levinshower (those damn goats tend to pop for a long time lol).

When linked a few times, those leves can give you quite a lot of SP (900+ per mob).
Now people know that and tend to abandon leave at crystal (yes, intentionally fail it...with the option that we have) at last mob (or before, depends on leve), in order to have that same leve next cycle (leves you fail can be redone at crystal next leve reset, without the need to go back to counter and pick it up again).

Sometimes, when you fail the leave, you might also end up having it available at the counter next reset too, you can do it twice then.

There's no bonus next cycle, no extra SP or something like that...people simply want to repeat that same leve next time they reset.

Don't forget that players that do that also DO NOT receive reward, as that leve was failed.

Also bare in mind that this has nothing to do with that "haxing" where you could pop the mobs in leve till time runs out, this has nothing to do with that.

Ah yes, the infamous "Inferno" leve exploit.

In all honesty, they should just make it so the leve disappears from the journal when you fail. I know it screws over some of the people who d/c but crafting works that way so why not? Its not very hero-esque to fail intentionally at the last minute
