Comprehensive reasons:

1. It only hurts the normal player who wants to gather for his/her craft or friends crafts.
2. RMT get around it by having multiple characters to gather with. thus still getting more materials than the normal player
3. Anyone can get around it by having multiple characters to gather with. thus still getting more materials than the normal player
4. If everyone can gather what they and/or their friends need, who will buy from possible RMT? So how will they make money in the real world if no one needs to buy their product in this virtual world?

Reasons to keep Anti-RMT countermeasures

1. Because the crazy lady said so.

I laughed at this post:

1. No, it actually helps the community as a whole while also discouraging RMT.
2. This is like saying, "People who want to fish over the limit of their license can get around it by using their friend's license". Just because they can circumvent it to a small extent (not to mention costs them another account), doesn't mean the rule in place is bad.
3. See #2
4. Everyone doesn't get materials from their friends. Many people use the market (you know, the thing designed for buying/selling), and flooding it with materials would be catastrophic. The RMT would get their Gil, and players will buy it because the economy would super-inflate. Additionally, by this reasoning, there shouldn't be RMT in any other MMO that doesn't have gathering restrictions... which is utterly and completely not true.

You are looking at this from a "me, me, me!" standpoint, when you need to be looking at the big picture. It's the same reason why when people are kids and scream, "Mommy, buy me everything I want", parents don't just go ahead and do so.
