Anyway, I fully support the OP. I wanted this in FFXI but the devs never gave it to us. I hope Yoshida sees this and sees whether this can be implemented. As long as the restrictions make sense, it should be perfectly fine. Class/job restrictions as a limitation make sense, so this is a clear winner.

Wait how is this fun? I dont give a rats ass what you look like as long as you can do your job. This would be another useless add on for a select group that wanna look hot in battle. This is a waste of the devs time and their time should be spend on content not on things like this. If you want to look good all you have to do is buy or make gear that matches and than single, double or triple meld it for the stats you want its that simple and players have the power to do so (yes there are some exceptions).

so just cause you don't care what your charecter look's like and don't enjoy it that mean's it can't be fun? there are alot of people out there that do enjoy this kind of thing. and this is content it give's people something to do hunting for the outfit they want wether it's a matter of getting it crafted or trying to get it out of a dungeon or getting it some other way. just because you don't enjoy it dosn't mean it isn't content or that it isn't fun!

Really dig the OP's idea.. Maybe with a system like this the game wouldn't have that "cookie cutter" look to it, either. With everyone of a certain class looking relatively similar because they are wearing the best pieces.

Stopping by to show my support again. So many ways this can be implemented to fit in with lore too. Make it like WoW if it's needed, where you combine two items together with the appearance of one and stats of the other. Of course, normal class restrictions will come into play.
