FF7 fanboys are mindless drones, they wouldnt know a good final fantasy if it bit them in the butt. it's highly overrated for no reason other than it was a lot of people's first rpg, and that is fairly annoyingI welcome the skill up system with open arms, mind you I have PLed every single class to 50 but I don't mind taking the time to cap my skills. This thread seems more like an FFXI butt hurt thread then anything, I'm sure if this was a system used in FF7 everyone would be jumping for joy a signing petitions to have this implemented in-game.
I wouldn't say all the FF7 fanboys are mindless drones, to clarify if would say the following:
1- 25% of all fanboys that say the game is good and they like it is due from the fact they just dickride off of cloud(or maybe another character but i doubt that) and also dickride off of other ppl that say the game is good. BAND WAGON!
2- 25 % of all fanboys that say the game is good/ great is due to the fact that it was mostly likely thier first rpg and if they grew up playing the game also ff7 was the first to be 3d rendered this is why they will claim its great.
3- 50% of all fanboys that played ff7 can actually claim the game was good/great (and are mostly likely the true fans of ff7), they can back their shit up by saying stuff like. it had a very good story, their was plenty of content, various levels of diffculty, good battle system, good graphics/ visual effects, good music, good landscapes, good character development, etc.
Also from reading through this thread i dont get how ppl can say take a system/feature used in an offline rpg and implement that feature/system into a mmorpg. SE can use certain stuff from previous offline rpg to maybe get an idea for things that could work in ffxiv but that is highly doubtful since they are two complete different types of games offline or online. If you still claim they can use offline rpgs systems/content and features for an online mmo the only game really that can be used is ff12 since that was like an offline mmo. SE is may have looked to some previous offline ff titles for some references but the main thing they are doing is looking at other MMO's, not offline rpgs to get an idea of how ff14 should be and what players expectations of an MMO should be. Plus skill ups are a thing of the past, and SE can definitely see all the problems that system created/had back then so there is no need to add something that will cause more problems for ff14 thats the last thing SE needs is more problems on their plates.
Actually I kinda take offense to that. I have played every single final fantasy there is and I love FF7 (Which is in a way the very first one I was able to own and play myself). By the way I also love FFIV, FFVI, X, XII, XIII and XIII-2. I enjoyed playing the original final fantasy didn't like the play of 2 much but I'm still giving it a shot again enjoyed the remake of three. So no not all FF7 fanboys/girls are mindless drones nor do they not know a good ff game. And I'm still playing 5 some reason I stopped playing for a while now I can't remember where i am in the story line rofl

I agree with all of that and yes the story for 7 was very engaging it keeps me playing it starting over and everything just to build up my characters to watch sephiroth try to destroy the world and cloud and the game to save it.I wouldn't say all the FF7 fanboys are mindless drones, to clarify if would say the following:

I can understand how someone may not like a Final Fantasy title but when they have the audacity to say one sucked and it was garbage to me that says they are not a real Final Fantasy fan. I love all Final Fantasy titles that I have played and that is most of them. I do have some that I dislike more than others but I do not hate or think any Final Fantasy game is garbage. I don't condemn people for having FF10 as their favorite FF game, hell I liked X-2(minus many of the girly scenes that made me cringe and the overall story wasn't amazing), I liked FFXIII even though it was lacking every other feature just about that other FF titles had in them. I have a buddy who absolutely loves FFXIII, it was his first FF game and it is the game that opened his eyes to RPGs. He went back and played FF9 and loved the game though XIII has a special place in his heart now.
Final Fantasy 7 is like that for a lot of people and me too honestly. Though I used to sneak into my brothers room when he wasn't home when I was around the 6-8 range and play his Final Fantasy II on the SNES. I didn't know what I was doing then on those games but I thought they was freaking awesome. A couple years later is when I got my hands on FF7 I was about 10 and it was mine. It brought back that magic feeling I got when I used to play my brothers FFII. That is something I will never forget but as well I really enjoyed the story, the soundtrack is superb, the materia, characters, the way the game progressed, etc etc the list goes on. The other FF title that is tied for a spot with FF7 is FFT. It was a different breed of game tied in with amazing characters and storyline. Ivalice has such a rich lore it captured my heart! Any how that was my spiel, just remember we are all Final Fantasy fans what the hell does it matter if I liked 7 or 8 or 9 more than 2 or 3? Different strokes for different folks, because I liked things from FFVII doesn't mean I want to see ideas from it make its way into FFXIV. I would much rather see a Midgar Online or something like that, but that is going into a whole new level of nerdom that I won't touch today.
Final Fantasy 14 sucked and was garbage, it still hasn't pulled itself out from being those things either.
I agree. In short we all benefit from the game being better even if those changes set new goals to achieve. If you're lvl 50 do you really want this game's only depth to be getting a better weapon every 3 months?..Enfeebling didn't contribute to anything? Sure in 2001 beta maybe lol. Healing always contributed, they just made it more obvious recently.
Not really. When they readded point allocation people were easily able to spend their points as they were already 50. The game works retroactively. When SE adjusted level curves and skill ratings in XI no one had to "go back" when they were already level 75 as they were already done prior to the changes, if they added in the system people who are already 50 would be granted the full benefit just like they are with every addition SE does to the core mechanics in XIV.
