If you only had access to one class/job then yes, the speed to get to Lv50 is too fast. However, keep in mind that you're leveling multiple classes and jobs. Lv50 multiplied by how many classes you will level. It actually evens out. For people who are concerned they won't be able to experience all the lower level content, you can do this while leveling another class.

Even if you played only 2 hours a day if you started from day 1 of release of this game you would probably have multiple lv50 classes.

Pretty sure SE would love to make 1-50 slower but with how this game is already is now they want to put as much in to entertain the existing players, but it could also mean they might make 50+ take longer.

    That's just my guess
While I again am uneasy at what was said in the interview, I do agree unfortunately that this is the way it is because the launch did not go well and now they have to keep us hardcore gamers entertained. And I do work towards many different things and do events all the time regularly with endgame stuff. I just wanted to also enjoy the journey of leveling and progressing in other jobs/classes as well, and feel like I put some form of dedication to that job, even if just a little.

A final thought on all this nonsense before i go to work

Should level 1-50 be fast? Yeah it should, for a single class.
Lets look at MMOs as a whole in this, over time, leveling gets faster as that specific level gets older and older. All games do this for the most part.

when a level cap raise goes into effect, that cap raise itself usualy takes as long as if not longer then ALL the levels before it.

I highly forsee this being something looked at with us here. Should 1-50 take 40-80 hours? well, looks like 51-60 will take another 80 hours, and so on and so forth.
61-70 copuld takde upwards of 200 hours depending on what things look like then and so on.

1-50 at this point has been around so long, it probly is time for a level cap raise in the future(at 2.0 or within a few months after i would hope) so that we can go beyond what we are at now. and there is a high probability of this happening if people remember what we were told by yoshi about his thoughts on cap raises.

Casual vs hardcore has NOTHING at all to do with it at this point, but after so long, people just getting into the game do need a bit of help playing catchup to those who have been in for years as far as level raising. And this is whats basicaly been happening over time(though it has been alot faster then it should be imo but thats another story)

    LOL,

They want hardcore play but they take that as sitting in a spot grinding out a bar. How about we get real hardcore people and get world bosses that take combined effort and a four hour battle to kill. That was hardcore in FFXI, not grinding out the mundane levels.

At 30, in a standard party, you can gain a couple levels every hour quite easily.
that is about the most full of shit statement I have ever read not the party part but getting from 1-50 in 2 weeks with 2 hours a day during the week on leves.

an average leave takes about 15 minutes solo thats 4 leves an hour that 80 leves in 20 hours it takes more than 80 leves to get from 1-50 especially since you wont have much rested xp since you will be playing every day.

Leveling is not the only long term goal we have. There is other options like rare armor, relics, and various amounts of achievements to unlock. I'm confident there will be a ton of additions in 2.0

That said there is already long term goals in game for us right now. its shocking to see some people going paranoid over one of the easiest thing to archive in an MMO.

This is true, but it creates a number of issues with the current system. See, to maintain that, they need to create enough midgame content to level 3 or 4 classes with. Currently, we hardly have enough for one. The second issue is that, because it's balanced around leveling multiple classes, you end up with several shallow experiences as opposed to one, meaningful one

Again, the actual leveling isn't really the issue here, it's the complete lack in sense of progression. Right now, 1-50 is a meaningless grind before you get to any real content worth doing, and that's poor design. If they fleshed out the leveling experience, filled it with meaningful, exciting content, and THEN you reached endgame, well, that'd be much better than what we have now
