All based on encounter i think, for example Spriggans, a WHM or BLM will out DPS any Melee just due to the nature of the mob XD.

I'm sure we will have a fight like that eventually, burn fights are a staple in MMO endgames. It may not be an "end boss", but surely there will be encounters where it is just a test of people's dmg rotations.

Which will be boring, but will put this discussion to rest at least.

You don't put any reason behind your list, I've seen BRD get 90~100dps, never seen a WAR do close to that

How about generators in the Castrum Novum fight? It's a pretty long fight, they are stationary, and as far as I know, do not have any innate resistances (as long as you know the simple trick [the beam points towards the front] combos are never interrupted).

I drop a gen with 1 DRG combo so getting a reliant DPS off them would be hard
The Vanguards might work well though, didn't even think about them, they might be resistant to magic, don't know off hand

But yes, DRG is amazing for generators given the amount and type of combos a DRG can pull off.
