For the most part, i liked gear swap in ffxi. I enjoyed collecting and using situational gear. the only things i didn't like were how needing so much gear flooded your inventory and the macro limit in ffxi that wouldn't allow you enough slots to swap all your gear per macro. oh and the blinking, but that problem is already fixed in ffxiv. i was thinking maybe SE could make it so rare/exclusive gear has it's own inventory slot.

Making the best possible gear set for each and every skill/spell you had was one of my most favorite things about 11 and any MMORPG altogether.

Not realistic and not fun to switch while in battle.
I like to be involved in the fight and move around, not switch my outfit.
No thanks, it probably won't even work right now since attributes don't even work right.

I played WHM and RDM and BRD and SMN all 75 (back in 2005,6,7 - when tanks were needed). Trying to find and paralyna my LS ninja tank on Byakko was ridiculous. It looked like Byakko was swinging at thin air most of the time because the NIN was gear swapping so often. Ill be happy to not see anything like that again.

FFXIV + Gear Swap = No Thanks

Your target stays on the person that did a gear swap. The only blinking is visual. How does that hinder trying to cast cure on your target?

When someone equips something in FFXIV, they 'dissapear' for a brief second, but you dont lose target lock on them if you already have them targeted.

Getting all the gear was something I liked about FFXI over almost every other mmo out there. There was no Best piece, there was the best piece for something but then it would be worthless for something else.

    This allowed for 3 things.

    1) Old gear was not outdated like it was in most mmos. THe Uberleet body armor in Zilart was still uberleet 6 yrs later because the leet gear in later expansion where for a different function on your job. Basically this prevents WoW syndrome where every expansion negates all old content because the armor gets better. This system of out-dating everything every expansion is the stupidest thing in the mmo world does nothing but pisses everyone off.

    2) More optimization, you could maximize your job to be the best it could be, it gave you something to work for. If someone can max a job out with just 15/16 pieces that would suck would all be over too fast.

    3) More utility, you had something you could use to maximize dmg, maximize defense, maximize curing, maximize accuracy. And you could simply use macros to be able to handle any situation.

I see absolute no reason not to have it, it does not harm anything and removing it only limits the game in the end.
