    Gear Swap Possible ?

Even my linkshell is sorta split on this one, but being a XI vet I've really missed this aspect of the game. I always felt the ability to do this on the fly allowed players to really separate themselves and reach their potential. It was always nice to TP in accuracy gear and then when weapon skill/battle regimen time came throw on all the STR and gorgets, etc. Plus it really gave tanks a chance to shine. Specifically casting in your haste(recast) gear, then throwing on your damage down idle gear, and when you saw a big magic TP move, putting on your resistance build.

Maybe its just cause of how little there is to really make your class unique but I find myself stuck in a cookie cutter role with cookie cutter gear.

I'd honestly rather not gear swap while fighting. I think it is totally unrealistic and the amount of inventory space it would take up is way too much with having to have a set for each class I play and then even multiple sets for one class as well? I know someone will reply to this saying you don't have to gear swap, but when I intentionally didn't gear swap in FFXI, I would get kicked from groups and looked down upon for "intentionally gimping myself." I really don't want this game to come to that.

I seemed swinging in a mighty rhythm through orbit vastness. Sparkling points of light spluttered and shot past me.

Agree with rhumu17, I would rather not see gear swapping battle.

Yeah, please not the hassle of swapping gear per fight. I'm already annoyed to have to switch jobs in the middle of doing guildleves because my other job gets marks lol.

Mavven i agree with you in bringing gear swaps back i miss switching to get max gear for a nuke or MA for magic burst etc to me it made battles more fun and kept you on your toes. For people saying it is too much of a hastle if we can sit here and spam shoot dart or attack of a weapon swing infinity times we can hit a macro for gear swap.

But sadly we live in a mmo where players don't want anything to complicated or don't want to not be looked down upon for not trying to be the best like the second post states

Edit: and imagine fighting a touch NM that requires high magic acc to enfeeble but you still have to get max on your cure 2 or 3 you have to give up one or the other in this game to me it adds strategy to battle and planning ahead making your job more unique but im just one player in Eorzea

The gear in xi was designed sloppy, having that many situational pieces was just bad design. Hell if you look at the stuff coming into xi now you can see that there getting away from it. Coming from some one who use to Blink like a christmas tree with an over clocked blinker due to having a /equip some where in every macro. it is one thing that i do not miss at all.

why was it sloppy design you didnt' give a reason not wanting to carry more gear isn't one and the fact you had to hit a macro to help tank a fast attacking mob that seperates a good player from a bad or casual one you always had the option to tp ws and blink in the same gear it was up to you. Something that you don't like doesn't mean it is bad design you had the option to not switch gear

I wont mind it in FFXIV, when someone is gear swapping and you have target on him you pretty much re-target the person when they blink. Unlike FFXI it was a pain in the butt for healers without using a 3 party tool but i don't think they ever allow us to gear swap.

Gear swapping could help out a lot get better nuke gear or best WS gear but let's see if any of the dev team would replay to this topic,.

Mostly because i really disliked the side grading and situational gear that existed in xi. due to the cap sitting at 75 for so long and the development decisions to keep certain pieces of gear "The best" Years after they were introduced. Clear cut upgrades on gear or don't bother. Yes its personal opinion and preference i am not trying to say other wise. But when i am engaging in combat the last thing i want to be worried about is the pair of boots i have equipped on my character or what rings or pants would be best in that nanosecond. Introducing a new shiny piece of gear that is all around worse then whats already in the game except for one select situation is a bad thing. gear staying viable long after its "out dated" because it augments one ability is not good. The reason that happened in xi was because it was only a /equip away in battle.

The current system in xiv allows us to focus on whats is going on in battle. The gear its self is designed in a generalist fashion that supports the lack of active mode swapping. On the rise to cap there are clear and defined "Best pieces" for the rolls you wish to perform. I sincerely hope that this trend continues. And you're more then correct, part of it is not wanting to have to clog up my inventory with a bunch of stuff that i need to pack along with me every where to be a "good" player. The amount of stuff you had to collect and pack around with you to perform "well" by community standards was crazy, and the problem was compounded by every Job you leveled up in xi.

But that's just my opinion, you are more then welcome to disagree with it.

It was horrible in 11, and it would be horrible if they added it to 14.
    1. gear changes for everything you do.
    2. lag and fps drop
    3. less individuality (since people don't have to choose what to optimize for)
    4. tons of time writing all the gear change macros
    5. less inventory space
    6. seriously? (next time you're in a bar fight, just try and change shirts)
