1.xx and launch!2.0 won't be up at the same time. However, they'll be running the beta tests in between those (we aren't using our 1.xx characters for the beta test so we don't need to wait for the transfer).

I'm a bit saddened by the fact that personal housing is for later. Although I kinda expected it so it's not a major let down for me. I am however very excited about chocobo raising and breeding. I hope it will be like ffxi where you see your chocobo grow from an egg into a small chick and so on. And not just egg -> full grown chocobo. I just loved staring and going out on walks with my small baby chocobo. They better make it look as cute if not cuter than the ffxi one *shakes fist*

That's exactly what I just said. What he's saying is that we won't be able to get our XIV fix during the transfer, which is wrong because the beta test will be up.

oh yeah we will still be able to get in there and TEST things with fresh characters, or whatever they give us to test with

If it's taking that long they must of made some serious database structure changes

Great interview. Thanks for pressing on some questions and not just letting them drop or changing the topic. SE has really improved their communications with the community since launch and has come a long way since the XI days. Also glad to hear jumping won't affect combat... Don't need Mario dungeons or "press X to not die" boss fights.

Glad everyone is enjoying the new info. It's 3.5 hours later and we're up and getting ready for day 3. as for downtime frankly I was confused a bit also which is why we kept following up, but what is clear is that 1.x ends, beta begins, then there is some downtime (I got the sense it could be a month but they don't know of course) and then we see 2.0. They know it should be as sort as possible but also know launch must be smooth.
