We only got to do 3 tries before people had to sleep, and didn't get a win, but we did go from flailing around with 7 people in our first fight to getting it down to 30% health in the 3rd fight, and I believe we could have won if the AOE hadn't for some reason faltered towards the end. But anyway, here's what we ended up doing for a strategy:
Take in two people to kite/kill the little generators. First kiter goes in, pulls Vanguard, starts running. Second kiter at the same time takes down a generator. Everyone else piles on top of the central generator and goes nuts on it. Anyone who can AOE (especially warriors and archers/bards) AOEs the adds in the middle as they spawn. Since the Vanguard will pick up hate on whoever kills the small generator, people who are AOEing may accidentally get the kill and need to be ready to take up kiting for a bit as well. While everyone else is killing in the middle, the two kiters take turns taking out a generator and kiting the Vanguard.
This was going SO smoothly until about 30% health left on the central generator, then like I said our AOEs started faltering and the central group got overwhelmed by debuffs and adds. But it was working so smoothly up until that point that I feel pretty confident we'll get some wins tomorrow afternoon when we all log back in. Really fun fight!

Yea its not a good idea to start paying less attention adds when its almost dead because that can make you lose. Just keep doing what your doing with the adds and you will win. Keeping adds under control will get you an easy win.We only got to do 3 tries before people had to sleep, and didn't get a win, but we did go from flailing around with 7 people in our first fight to getting it down to 30% health in the 3rd fight, and I believe we could have won if the AOE hadn't for some reason faltered towards the end. Anyone know why theres a timer for castrum nova in the timers menu? I am guessing its for the gates since the quest, as far as I know isn't repeatable. Just wondering if theres something I am missing because thats kind of a weird thing to have in the timers.

I rather enjoyed that battle, good stuff!

2 war for ads , 4 mnks one on each pillar rotating if one has to kite, 2 whm.
Can find in past streams in the link in my sig.

We just stood in the middle and AoE everything the thing in the middle takes dmg even if one beam generator is down.
Here is a formulaic model for people:
WHM x 2,WAR, WAR/DRG x 4, MNK or whatever
You can be pretty flexible but I like AOE DD to help with adds - totally up to you.
NOTE: The MNK will always be on the transistor, even when invincible. They can move to kill off an add but you don't want them with hate.
1. Enter
2. Buff
3. One WAR will designate as the initial kiter and will take hate and run around the perimiter
4. One WAR will ALWAYS handle adds and nothing else
5. Each DD will take a generator and drop it to around 5% then STOP
6. A DD will call out a kill command and kill all generators at the same time
7. The DD who were on the generators need to see who has hate and call it out and take over kiting
8. The previous kiter goes right to the middle and zergs with the MNK
9. The other DD can help with adds and also the transistor
9. Repeat until finished
Other strats will work but this is the safest, IMO.
Grats on your victory!
