I know this can't be the highest it can go.. if thats the case.. how will the low end computers will favor? Blocks of death?I know better than this.. those Screenshots are NOT at its highest potential. At first, soon as I got legacy, I canceled my sub was very prepared to just wait until 2.0... but I am totally prepared now to stick with the game until then. I mean come on! Artifact for my Armorer? Hell to the yes.
Also, don't know what people complaining about on a less taxing resolution, I would totally sacrifice super graphics to be able to see 25-50 more people on the screen.
Mind = BLOWN
I have never gotten this excited over a game in many many years
Thank you Yoshi and his team^^
I demand Ultros!
you never know
we know for a fact they were lowering the low end of it ALOT in order for lesser inferior systems to handle the game, but how that effects the high end we wont know right now

I don't think he was being silly. He was judging evidence of what we have and drawing a conclusion based on a comparison (i.e., those screenshots are technically worse than screenshots of TERA). That's just formulating a conclusion based on observation. Being "silly" in my opinion would be presuming FFXIV 2.0 will have better graphics than what we have been shown in screenshots so far.
It might, at the end of the day, have better graphics, but based on what we've been shown, it stands to reason that 2.0 is a downgrade. For now, one must assume it's a downgrade based on observation.
Even if it is a "Downgrade", the graphics still look awesome enough for me to be immersed by my Surroundings. Not only that, nothing on any of those Screenies look to be copied and Pasted.. "Thats alot better the graphics, and take a "little downgrade for non-c/p areas anyday!" =).
I believe they said they want the game to be beautiful for even lower end PC's.
that rather then sacrificing graphics like they did originally, less was going to show up on the screen.
I believe characters, they mentioned they wanted to output up to 700? for high end PC's and less for lower end PC's.
If I had to guess, with lower end PC's you might get the option to remove some grass or bushes as well, I think some games do that.
you can see by the screenshots that they got rid of the beautiful, yet power hungry textures in exchange for more trees, grass, bushes and a just overall more fantasy feel.
who needs those high end textures when you got all that filler anyway.

I hate to be "that guy", but while I will say that the game does look really nice, it still doesn't answer the question of how does it play. A game that looks nice, but plays terribly is still a terrible game. And while I can say that FFXIV has improved since the 1.0 days, I'm still not convinced through the screenshots and concept art that 2.0 is going to be better.

Graphics still look okay, but they also look just like TERA and Blade and Soul. I thought they would be optimising the game so it still looked as good as it does now but allow more than 40 people to be on screen at once. Smaller zones should have taken care of copy paste problems.
I think it's a downgrade so people with lower spec PCs can play. They shifted the bellcurve down. And now highest settings looks like those screenshots. That's my theory.
I kind of have to agree. I saw some guy earlier say "never before has a game made a come back like this!!! omg" or something to that effect.I hate to be "that guy", but while I will say that the game does look really nice, it still doesn't answer the question of how does it play. I wanted to say "um... it's just a couple of screenshots... which are technically worse than what we already have."
I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but best to assess things rationally.
