Can we implement the goodies Tanaka wanted us to have in 2.0 please?
^I'm going to re-post this video until we get it, I WANT TO MAKE A GIANT CAKE WITH OTHERS!
Actually, XIV didn't go into actual production till around 2007, when they pulled the XI crew to focus on it. This is why WoTG expansion took over 3 years for them to finish it. Zilart, CoP and ToAU didn't take 3 years for them to finish, even the conclusion mission between Zilart and CoP (Apocalypse Neigh) came out fairly quickly.
The technical demo was just that, a technical demo or we'd have a PS3 version of FFVII if we're using tech demos as a basis on when something goes into production.
Production of the content and software itself, yes, but it had been in the design and concept stage for well before that.Actually, XIV didn't go into actual production till around 2007,
What the? Voices of reason? You get out of here with your logic and patience! We're waiting for the gubernment to try and take our guns and our magical catgirls from our COLD DEAD HANDS.To an extent but I"m not sure about DA2 but didn't it use the same exact engine as DA? So if that's the case then it's not really like 1.0-2.0 since the code for 2.0 had to be written from scratch based on what was on 1.0. It's not as hard as making a new mmo from scratch but it's still a strenuous task since it's not as simple as saying ok, we can move all these 1.0 models to 2.0, they have to make every single model from scratch including all the armor/weapons they made for 1.0.
---
To the OP though. topics like this are becoming tedious, is it really necessary to have topics like this come up as the information for 2.0 comes closer. Wouldn't it be better to just sit back and be patient rather then act paranoid over the fact that maybe it won't be good. How can you tell unless you are actually working side by side with them or actually see the information they are going to post in the next few days.
You're better off just leaving topics like this in your head and waiting til the information is released before you start acting paranoid. If you see the site and find yourself taking back from stuff you find won't make 2.0 good for you, then feel free to make a topic like this. But it just seems completely unnecessary for topics like this to come up as the day draws closer to the E3 reveal. Just gotta be patient for a few more days lol.
So whats this crap they are giving us then about a "flood" of new content coming with 2.0?Just in case you're not clear, they're not promising everything to happen all at once the instant 2.0 comes out. Everything is "after 2.0" not "AT 2.0." Not absolutely every little thing that they said will be coming in 2.0 will immediately be available at its launch. Nobody should be expecting that, because that's not what they have been saying.
For instance, are we going to have PvP @1? I doubt it, it will probably be introduced later.
What you SHOULD be expecting at launch is the redesigned areas, new UI, and many of the more technical fixes.
They have to give us new content, if not at the launch of 2.0 but very soon after.
Realistically once a few ppl get their first jobs to 50 on the 'fresh start' servers it will be a burn fest so everyone will cap fairly fast, (we will most likely see the incoming of rmt burn pts like the ones abundant in xi right now, making this burn fest even faster) then after they burn through ifrit, moogle and garuda (assuming they are still there), the story line quests and the lolraids they have given us so far ppl will start to fall away cause their wont be the promise of 2.0 and they wont want to run a raid 200 times for 1 piece of gear that will be outdated with the next patch or spend 10 hrs a day crafting. The only thing keeping most of us is the promise of 2.0, but if they dont deliver our servers will slow down as well.
With all the competition on the market right now and all the new and fun mmos recently released and soon to be they have to make it one hell of a game to compete with not only the other mmos but also xiv's own reputation. So releasing 2.0 without new content or without the promise of a content heavy heavy patch within a few months after release, xiv may sink.
It sounds like the obvious thing but SE isnt know for their brilliance in marketing
The promise of 2.0 is what makes me keep playing. I hope its good because Elder Scrolls Online is out next year and Will move to that if 2.0 isnt great!
They should also rename it to Final Fantasy XIV-2

Elder scrolls... That piece ofshit company can't release a not bugged of game that is offline, imagine the bug fest that this online will be. Plus, they deceived customers launching a sub par game for the ps3. That's why I hate multi platform. That's why I love Sony which invest in studios and launch great titles that no one can play. Too bad SE, can't see that they went down the drain when they start this launching ff on every console. Stick to your root SE.
