I never said that's all they are going to show. I'm talking about FFXIV in General, Yes its a show, but its also a Competition at the same time if you really think about it. but even still, With all these Games that are at the "show" are people really going to take the time, to get see FFXIV ( that failed), with all the games available at E3? I really don't see anything good coming out of E3 to be quite honest to me anyhow.

I know SE has other games that are going to shock the crowd like Tomb Raider and Such.. but All I was talking about was FFXIV in General, Not SE :P.

I'm *all* for complaining, but let's at least pretend to have brain cells when we do it yeah? The complaints in the thread are just retarded, especially considering a trailer without information was *not* going to do *anything* to drum up any sort of mass interest. From a marketing perspective, all it would've been to gamers was a fail game with a new trailer. And anyone with a shred of common sense could see that, but all the community is good for these days is face-rolling drivel on their keyboards.

It has nothing to do about whining, its all about complaining while using some brain matter. I mean cmon, you have to see these ludicrous conclusions are just that...ludicrous.
Oh look a post whining about whining filled with assumption, supposition and personal opinions and sprinkled with insults throughout. But then this is par for the course considering the poster...

(Also, assuming you know anything about what SE has and has not prepared to show for 2.0 and then telling others they don't comprehend something is hilarious. Do go on about how you have this insider info about SE only having a CGI promo ready.)

So my question is, how does a CGI trailer reflect *anything* about the game/gameplay/quality at all? Last I checked, a CGI trailer was just that...CGI. And last I checked, we don't play the game in CGI soooo >_> wth are you guys whining about. A trailer at E3 wasn't going to do shit, especially without a lot of information behind it.
Here is one answer...it effects game play because by losing out on the chance to show their media to a large audience..people instead are not going to know about it when they may have. So we may possibly have a lower population then SE could have gotten. That effects game play in many ways. It shouldn't make or break the game but they won't be reaching out to as many people as they could by making this choice.

I don't understand pple's logic when they think that SE cancelled their trailer for fear that it would be overlooked because of other games and announcements at e3. Are you serious?
Maybe then Nintendo should cancel their wii-u plans for fear it will be overshadowed by assassins creed III or GTA V.....

Honest question here. Do you guys think they felt like the trailer and announcement would have gotten lost with all the louder noise at E3?

That's really the only reason I can see why. Because they can make a second trailer for their flurry of releases down the road but it's really either what I said above, or the trailer just wasn't impressive enough and they can't afford another poor first impression.

Not really, I think they just sort of decided not to put the work in for an E3 presentation in favor of newer, single player console games that they rely on release sales for rather than subscriptions.

Releasing the site as a whole should draw more attention then a 3 minute trailer depicting something that won't occur during 2.0. What good will the trailer do now if they show it, people will just say oh cool guess I"ll just wait for that to be released. However, if you have more background based on said game people may be more willing to try it out.

From the letter itself it sounds like this is how they were originally going to release the information:
Trailers, open up site with some basic info, update bi/weekly.

Instead they are now doing this:
Releasing a site covering all the information they would have released in stagger.

Now you might be wondering why is this better then a trailer. Well it's quite simple, an MMO is about many concepts, if you want to catch the eyes of a player you have to show them everything and then hope said player finds at least one thing they can grasp onto and draw interest from. It's very possible the trailer could be seen as lackluster to some because it may only show a fragment of things they have planned and then when the site open up it would show even more stuff they aren't interested in so by doing it that way they risk losing customers since they may not be willing to continuously check the site of a game that had already failed once just to find out if there's something they may be interested in.

They have a higher probability of gaining an audience through a completed site then they do of showing a trailer that only depicts the future of 2.0. If SE plays their cards right they should definitely put a page depicting all the "one time" only stuff before 2.0 hits since that would be a really good way to catch the attention of players wondering if they should check out the game. If they can draw players in by saying hey you can only do this once and then also draw them in by seeing what will be revealed in 2.0 they have a good chance of improving their population once E3 is complete and is prolly the main reason why they added the May 31st limit to Legacy.

You're not exactly one for common sense, this is why you don't understand.

As others said, E3 is very Non-PC centric, so it definitely would have caused a murmur if that. Yoshida took the wise route and decided it would be better to give out a lot of information (most likely at the OTHER larger conventions in august) than it being just a tiny reveal trailer which will get overshadowed by Halo 4 alone.

E3 is going to blow me away with these games:

    - Nintendo Wii U
    - Assassins Creed III
    - Resident Evil 6

No one is going to bother with FFXIV a Failed MMO @ E3 when there are better things to look at.

Well that is you and a few others maybe. But any FF fan and avid mmo player that has stuck by FFXIV, played since release, will say... FFXIV is be the most anticipated event showing at E3, at least for me it is. I don't even play consoles that much anymore, and FF is my favorite series, DMC and RE are great as well. But I'm hooked playing an FF mmo, that's true to its roots, live, with other players. And I hope 2.0 is gonna be the 'mmo beast' I think its gonna be.

There is no way Yoshi and the team can make FFXIV worse than it was, and its an ok, fun game to play now. 2.0 can on shine in my eyes.

Maybe the trailer will be attached to the new web site for everyone to see, followed by t.v./internet ad's. I also think there are spoilers attached too the trailer, and us seeing it now before 2.0 firsts patch would ruin it for us.
