Skill tree's? Try Skills you know those things everyone wants crushed together because there eitherWhat's the alternative? Skill trees? I hate those, especially in MMOs. The biggest draw-in of this game for me is that one character is capable of doing anything and everything they want, without fear of going wrong. The only thing that deviates from this is choosing cities and GCs, but it's really not a big deal (especially once we start having 8 characters per server).
I don't even know where you got class diversity from anyway. Nobody's talking about what you just defined except you.
A) to stupid to setup a Skill macro
B) there just so lazy, moving the mouse cursor few inches to the left or right causes undue strain.
C) there all about efficiency over any amount of enjoyability.
D)All of the above
Yeah, I have no idea what you're talking about anymore.Skill tree's? Try Skills you know those things everyone wants crushed together because there either

OP should probably actually have experienced endgame content on multiple levels before declaring that everything is broken.
Also, you state that casting shell and protect make you feel like you're actually doing your job, but you only want to have to do it every thirty minutes. You state that casting multiple spells make you feel like doing something, but in the end it's just for your own nostalgic reasons.
In all actuality 5 minutes is all that's needed for pretty much any boss battle, barring a few. When you've experience these boss battles, and actually masteredd rotations/dps/avoiding abilities/healing/buffing, then maybe your argument will be valid.
i'm one of the ones that enjoyed the original battle system much more than the system we have now. wow thunder>thunder>thunder is so much fun............

I kind of agree with dark here. I miss Astral/Umbral on THM, I miss water element, I miss CNJ being about elements rather than Cure, Cure, Stone for magic evasion down so the THMs can burn it. I miss THM having enfeebling magic spells. I miss PGL being able to stack skill effects like Concussive Blow. I miss the speed bonus on Power Surge for Lancer.
I dunno, in some weird way, even though the jobs have more defined "roles" somehow the skills seem less and less unique. There's one way to play each job/class and only that one way, no option for skills, no flexibility in combat. It's all turning into "If you want to beat X, the party setup is Y."
Isn't this thread some month too late? oO
and
Protect last much longer than 30 second and shell is in protect, if protect was casted by conjurer. If you want Shell and don't have a conjurer with you, use Ironwill Unguent (This foul-smelling salve increases magic defense. (Effect: Shell)).
SE: " We change the name from protect in barrier"
Random thread title : " Why have barrier no magic def if it isn't castet from a conjurer?"
