I would really like to see a 'need' and 'greed' roll option... would really streamline picking up loot in parties and behests, not to mention make it easier for people to get the gear they need (rather than relying on other people to pass the loot)

ninja looting isn't just in random parties. I had some LS mates in an ebd game LS pull the same crap (and got away with it)
I'd say yes just so i can pass on every feather and random monster part I dont want.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Unless they start adding Rare/Ex drops, a manual rolling system is unnecessary and redundant.
I'd like more player options for loot. My husband and I duo alot of play with another friend, we all know who needs what. As the system is atm. we need to stop and give the loot to one or the other, or trade. Trading is slow and tedious, inventory room is sparse. I much raher have a screen pop up on screen where we can pass or roll accordingly to our situation.
You don't have to stop and trade... all you have to do is pass the item. If everyone passes except the person who needs it, then it will go to them.
I don't understand your logic here. It was way easier to steal items in FFXI than it is in FFXIV. During a party, it was pretty easy for someone to ninja loot if they waited until they started attacking the next mob. People would miss the roll in the chat log. There were lots of d-bags that would steal Beastcoins this way.
It's impossible to "steal" items in FFXIV.
ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-
welp thats tons of crafting materials i needlessly threw away.
I'd have to log in and test it but I'm pretty sure thats how it works. I'm just not able too right now. Work and such.

Totaly right on this point, the system now is the best for normal party, the thing is when it come to event like NM or possibly "Raid dongeon" they can keep stuff that people working hard to get that they dont even need. This is internet there will always be bastard making drama if they can.I don't understand your logic here. It was way easier to steal items in FFXI than it is in FFXIV. The issue is what do you define as theft of an item.I don't understand your logic here. It was way easier to steal items in FFXI than it is in FFXIV. My linkshell has a lot order, if the Game randoms an item to a member that is not the person who I say should get it and that person refuses to give up the item to the right person. It is theft. Just because the game gives them the item it does not make it theirs.
And with the FFXIV system it is impossible to stop that from happening. In FFXI I gave people 3mins to pass or I kicked them from party. Once I was sure the person getting it was going to get it I passed and the item droped.
