So in the new Letter From The Producer Yoshi P pretty much confirms a new job system is being worked on.
So what does this mean to us, how will they implement it?To sum up, we’re updating those aspects of the game whose priority is high, and which can be updated relatively easily, while more radical and profound changes, such as those revolving around latency, auto-attack, battle, the Armoury system, the job system, dungeons, movement, modes of transport—these are currently under development on their own, completely independent schedules.
That’s the first time I dropped word of the new job system, isn’t it? Just sayin’. (Eaaasy, I’ll be posting about it on the forums soon enough.)
Will it be scrap and rebuild or an extension and refinement of the current system. Who knows let the speculation begin.
I hope this means that traditional classes are coming back but then what will happen to the current classes. If traditional ones are just advanced classes of current ones then it will be interesting to see how they work it. I know a lot of people seem to like the tree idea going around but I like it in FFXI how I didn't have to level a job I didn't care about to get access to one that I do. I just needed one to 30 and from there could do anything.
Also maybe get rid of this weapon=class thing they have going on. I want my Job to define my character not what weapon I am holding in my hand. Keep weapons for learning weapon skills only and actual Job/Classes for learning skills and abilities. That way I can use a variety of weapon's on my Job/Class and maybe have more unique weapon skills as they won't have to made to work for every single weapon.
I personally would be in favour of scrapping physical level to make way for Job Level and stripping back current classes (weapon specialisations) to just weapon skills, then make the Job's learn the skills, traits and abilities.
So for MRD Skull Sunder, Trunk Splitter and so on would be weapon skill's tied to the Great Axe. Then the Job could be MRD or maybe renamed WAR and it would learn Bloodbath, Warmonger, Foresight and so on. With this system I could equip a sword and still have full use of my WAR/MRD abilities and traits but the weapon skills would be from the Sword/GLA side so Onion Cut, Spin Stroke, Red Lotus and so on. I hope they do something like that anyway and get traditional Jobs back in some fashion.
Either way I am very excited about this news and can't wait for more info.
