Most servers are full...returning players would probably get shoved to some out there server...so we'd not see them.

Sides really ... do most of you senior players even give an ear to returning newbs?

And um...then there's the question of gee return to a game that will change in 2.0 or go play Diablo III...just saying.

At the end of the day whether or not the legacy / welcome back are successful...these are just to retain the current player base.

The surge of players will come at CONSOLE RELEASE...Final Fantasy at the heart is a CONSOLE game and until it hits a CONSOLE it will never be given the chance to TRULY SHIINE.

I just hope we don't end up hearing about "PS3 limitations" screwing over FFXIV the same way "PS2 limitations" stifled FFXI.

With FFXI the game was made for the PS2 and ported to the PC, thus limitations.

FFXIV is made for the PC & PS3, 2 seperate clients (or they ported the PC basics over) so there should not be any limitations.

How would there? the PS2s limits were because of the client, not the server (the PS2 RAM was a big one, limited Inventory, Auto-translatr dic, zone limits etc.).

SE should of learned there lesson this time and develope the PS3 version in a way that optimizes the code and allows for greater limits.

yea sorry my bad rofl, i think i now remember Yoshi talking about seperating clients so that PC version will not be effected by the limitation of the PS3 version.... just can't remember the source right now haha.

A lot of people simply thought "PS2 Limitations" was slang for "We don't want to do it", even a quick comparison of the PS2 vs PS3 specs would tell you even without client separation, it won't be limited like XI was.
