And I thought I was the only one whith this mindset. It's even more-so in 2.0 where we're going to have a hugely altered gameplay experience, from 1 on up to cap, come 2.0. Why people felt it was important to have all 50s before then, hence trivializing a huge chunk of the in the lower levels right out of the gate, is beyond me, but it's also not for me to decide.![]()

if there is something worth playing pre 50 in 2.0 the vast majority of us will have the ability to create 7 alts (for free) to play it. We haven't missed out on anything by getting all 50s quickly. If anything, it's those that haven't done that that will miss out on content. It's even more-so in 2.0 where we're going to have a hugely altered gameplay experience, from 1 on up to cap, come 2.0. Nope, because it makes perfect sense since it happens in other MMOs. When new end-game content come out, they'll be all set and prepared for it and can blow through it then 'have nothing to do', but when they release a lot of low/mid level content they can't take part in or 'get no challenge out of it', it becomes a 'problem.'
People easily forgot while they're rebuilding XIV, 1.x is essentially just the building blocks for newer players or those who took their time to enjoy it at their own pace, rather than pling everything to 50 and complaining about trivial content clearly not designed for them o.O
I agree with several people here, i started this game with a friend who didnt stay because he felt that it was crappy, a few weeks ago he got back to check it out again before the welcome back campaign, he had troubles to log in with his former character so he made a new one, now he has only one class at 50 and the corresponding job still dealing with the af quest lines, he found the game harder and enjoyable than other MMO's he was playing, he hasnt even unlocked the Darkhold quest to be able to burn it, he cant do Aurum Vale yet of course, he doesnt have the main story quest all done, hes still dealing with the prequest to join a grand company, he doesnt have the ifrit r25 quest, of course he doesnt even got the Garuda one, etc...
So what im saying here is this, that guy is some kind of casual hardcore player he joined before this campaign and you know for sure that most of people that left didnt even wait for ifrit release or company release, some of them may have a 50 class, they still need to level up several classes to be able to solo stuff and do party stuff, they dont have gear, no companies, no af quest, no primal quest, they cant do several dungeons etc
At the moment, even if you play a lot theres a ton of stuff out there that you dont realize because you did it piece by piece like me when it was released, so now of course you feel that they dont have anything to do because you did all, but if you see all that stuff with a lvl 1 character is more stuff than what you think it is.
By the way i was never trolling in this thread, i was/am honestly pissed off about the lack of content in 1.22/1.22a and think they could have waited till maybe when the imperial stronghold comes to advertise how much "better" the game has become.

I think the OP is mad because he expected something specific, based on his bolded statement, to happen within the period of the welcome back campaign. I think SE just used that general statement, as they did when they started charging, to draw people in to experience the content that will be going away in 2.0. Some people actually care about the story, others just want the lootz, which is fine in either case. Everyone has their own reason for playing.
I think any kind of promotion SE does at this point to draw in old and new players alike is a winner. I've encouraged some people I know that either quit after the first month or have played off and on to give it another try, whether they want to resubscribe or not, just to see change to the fundamental systems of the game. One friend of mine detested the battle system, but I imagine with the changes to it, it's probably actually bearable to them now.
The point of this isn't to rush to 50 and try to experience all the content possible in 10 days. It's to show how the game has changed and hopefully draw in some more people to play this when 2.0 comes.

Only part I say they failed on this Welcome Back Campaign is they still had the servers all closed...
Some people wanted to start new characters on other servers to see how much the game changed and also be with other friends on other server and because the servers are locked due to the stupid Uldah Zone A issue they are playing solo on other servers. They like the new battle system but they aren't getting high enough level in 10 days time to even try to attempt Ifrit, Moogle, or easy raids like Totorak...
Yep. Considering if you rush to 50, you'll miss:
1. The low level dungeon added quite a bit of people quit, and yes it is an actual dungeon (open world too.)
2. The subtle changes, especially to the UI which has changed the most between 2010-now, even if there's still a latency problem.
3. The tons of sidequests to do. These didn't exist at all in 2010 and there's actually quite a lot of them throughout all 3 cities.
4. The new class/job layout and so on.
There will/might be blood (I dont know this exact translation) for example is a very good sidequest for its level, lot a bit of story, decent fight involve, it's trivial to do at level 50 much like doing Ifrit (easy) as 50. Since anyone who played in 2010 and quit will not come back to the same game, it's UNPOSSIBLE to say otherwise.
That is what the campaign is for, not people who just quit when their free time ran out after they started charging.

Not everyone experienced any of the content you mentioned in your OP you know (including me). I just came back but not during the Welcome Back Campaign. I came back on April 25th I think it was.(Cause of the Legacy Campaign) The last time I played I never got a 50 back then since the game was pretty awful and I didn't look forward to playing it at all. Jobs were not around, Grand Companies were not around and I can keep naming a lot more things. But so far I am having a lot of fun now than I had a yr ago. A yr ago I had a 30GLAD but I made the decision of deleting my char this time around and started fresh to experience all the changes. And I don't regret doing that.
I now have my GLAD to 30 again, unlocked PLD, got my CNJ to 26 and MRD to 15 for their abilities. The game has changed A LOT! AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE COMING MONTHS AND 2.0!! And what is wrong with GLAD since you mentioned some people are "fail" because that's their main? People play the classes they WANT to play. Other people can't tell someone else what class to play or not to play you know?
Personally I think the welcome back campaign was a success. I see a lot of new/returning players running around etc, as well as new and returning players joining my current LS every day. So I think this thread should be renamed QQ fail![]()

1. as soon as the low level dungeon came out i went in to kill all the NMs and figure out where each chest key came from (thinking the stuff inside might be worth getting)
2. how do u miss the UI? its in front of you the entire time. cant really be overlooked.
3 & 4. done every side quest in the game possible even at 50 u can take the exp on any job just make sure u change before you complete the quest.
