I would prefer gaining dragon abilities then becoming a crappy pet class, leave that to BST and PUP. Give me breaths and dragon magic! Also Dragoons should have a passive increased damage to dragonkin.In my case, because 20 jobs that carry a weapon and hit stuff with nothing truly unique, Ok DRG jumps, otherwise it's just run up hit mob WS(animations change) repeat, yeah gear is different, WS animations are too, but that's just ascetics. A pet would really provide a change in mechanics, I get that keeping your pet alive takes work, and that having to master controlling a pet takes some time, and that BLM is the penultimate DD because it just has to hit A > B > C w/o getting resisted where melee DDs have to move around and that makes them more work.
Really want to not have a pet find some other way to make unique mechanics on any job, not just DRG, DRG is just currently the one most easily adapted to it since they've already got the whole dragonkind bit included.
On the note of lore, really they're going to remake the whole of the world, what's to say that the population of Humanoid friendly Dragonkind can't grow with that change. Seriously though if you can tear apart the world you can pretty much rewrite any lore you want.
