So this is what it boils down to? That you, Sipder-Dan, wishes to know why there is no "I win" button after putting all HQ mats into the synthesis window (regardless of whether you personally want that button or not) because last summer Yoshida said "完成品の最終工程は、これで確実にHQが製作できる仕組みです。" in a forum post (Which by the way google translate tells me is "reliably".)?

Just stop it already. The system changed while it was in development. You are the only person acting so entitled. This is not a problem.

this was the statement I was hoping for also

"Basically, in order to synthesize an HQ final item, HQ versions of every ingredient must be used. Players are guaranteed to synthesize HQ items if all the ingredients used are HQ. However, it will be very difficult to obtain HQ versions of all ingredients."

Keeping the thread moving will get dev reply soon.

To the OP. I think you are a little confused by the article.

•HQ Synthesis Revamp Planned for after Patch 1.20
We are planning a revamp for HQ item synthesis from Patch 1.20 on. Currently, there are multiple qualities of HQ items, which can get confusing. To fix this issue, we plan on separating these items into normal quality (NQ) and high quality (HQ). NQ and HQ items will have clear differences in quality. Also, the synthesis process for HQ items will be changed as follows:
    HQ Cobalt Sabatons
    ├ HQ Cobalt Plate × 3
    ├ HQ Cobalt Rings × 1
    ├ HQ Boar Leather × 1
    └ HQ Electrum Ingot × 1
He's only referring to items that you will have to craft specifically for HQ quality. In this case, it's "HQ" Cobalt Sabatons. Because the recipe is for HQ Sabatons, and you are required to use only HQ mats. If you succeed in the completion of this craft, then it's 100% HQ.

This would only be for this specific type of craft. The difference being if you were crafting NQ Cobalt Sabatons and you succeeded in a HQ quality, it would be HQ.

    Thanks... close thread.

    I find two things interesting:

    1) You seem to completely dismiss the actual acquisition of HQ materials, which is a not-insignificant factor (essentially, that system is based around getting the materials); in that case, it would seem that your argument should be with the person that created that mechanic (i.e. Yoshida).

    2) For some strange reason, you are continuing to grasp at the "translation error" angle. You are aware that the entirety of Yoshida's communication with the English-speaking community is translated, right? When you are copypasting Japanese into Google Translate just to avoid using the official SE-provided translation, this should raise a red flag.

Any continued mentions of how I supposedly want a "win button" completely misses the point. I am not the one who came up with the "HQ mats = HQ result" system. Yoshida is.

I simply want to know why he said the system would work that way, but it doesn't. Will it work that way in 2.0? Have those plans been completely scrapped?

This thread is still alive? Holy crap. The answer is in the second post.

    There are two options here:
    1) Get old-school FFXI-style communication with regards to stuff in-development (read: no communication except patch notes)
    -or-
    2) Get a variety of communication regarding in-development features, but occasionally get fed information that gets changed or invalidated.

I personally prefer option 2. I think it's safe to assume that the HQ mats = HQ result will never see the light of day, because the quote you referenced in the OP specifically mentioned patch 1.19. It was probably nixed due to balance concerns; I certainly don't like the idea.

I think it's safe to assume that all dev posts have this implied set of fine print at the bottom:
*All information regarding features in-development are subject to change.

    There's a third option:

    3) Get a variety of communication regarding in-development features, including notifications as to whether previously announced major changes have been either delayed or scrapped, and if they have been scrapped, the reasoning behind such decisions.

    Touché. That would be nice.
