Sure, we don't really need those things, but it's still a bummer to see.

That said, I'm more frustrated with FOMO in other areas then cash shop/collab stuff, particuarly because sometimes IP rights and all that can cause these to be a limited time anyway. It happens.

Particularly would like to request a shortening of the time PvP items are unobtainable.

The new progression system that they showed at fanfest though. It's worth letting them know not to make items obtained there time gated. Assuming it'll give items as rewards. We'll see when we learn more about it. I think it's just better to provide feedback sooner rather then later so they can plan around it.
Relatable like I've been looking at the long pants version of the belt-leather set for almost 1 year now since it's way more expensive than anything else but I know it's from the Korean cash shop so it might not go on sale even during the Anniversary too if I'm unlucky.

Yeah, I understand and I know SE will never do sales of separate pieces of cash shop glams, but in my dream I could buy different parts for a smaller cost like they finally split up hairs from the outfit sets but they can do so much better for me who loves many cash shop cosmetics but limited funds often who can't justify like paying $18 each time for some parts.

The FOMO is predatory and frankly a cheapshot considering the amount of people subbed. Looking at SE shareholder meetings, I am unsurprised.

...But also, the true BS is that events keep giving versatile housing items you physically don't have the space for (ice lofts...) to entice you to get additional retainers so that you can stock up before the items get put into the cash shop for 3.50€ a piece.
Going to play Devil's Advocate here and point out a different thought - what was the price of a sub in 2013 when ARR launched? What is the price of a sub today? Oh, the same...how many other things do you know that haven't increased a single penny in cost over the past 13 years? Even other digital things like your Netflix or Hulu or whatever has gone up, probably several times. How is it possible that the FFXIV sub stays the same? Right - in part because SE makes money from the cash shop that would otherwise come from all of us in our subscription fees. As long as the stuff on the cash shop remains purely cosmetic, I don't consider it a cheapshot at all.

True enough. It's the same business strategy that gacha games employ only to a somewhat less drastic effect. The cost to the average player is subsidized by big spenders, simple as.

The lack of increase in sub cost is frankly very surprising, in a good way. I remember when Runescape sub was only 5 bucks..

I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

They know when they do, the playerbase would likely go feral on this - Though interestingly, they are also ready to put in hundreds of dollars into crowdfunded projects of new ones, only for them to be stalled in development for years and/or eventually closed.

Blizzard sells a few pets for $200 and I don’t see anyone complaining about that because guess what? You don’t really need those things.
They are optional for those who have free money to spend.
    That... is not the point
The point is they shouldn't be time limited, that is a slippery slope

Also there has never been a pet for 200$, even the auction house mount was 90$. please stop spreading misinformation for a game you clearly dont play

If you wanted to gotcha wow you should've mentioned how it's doing been doing these awful time limited store items for years.

FFXIV team is very good at PR. They can distance themselves from F2P games all they want but they employ the same tactics on top of a sub. They're just really good at making you feel special because you're paying for the privilege of playing the game you already bought (see all and any housing arguements).

But again you don’t really need these glams. They won’t affect your game if you don’t buy them. So how’s that Fomo exactly? It can only be Fomo for people who struggle to manage their money. There’s plenty of free glams in the game.

And they literally have a pack of a few pets that cost exactly $200 in their shop. I do play the game and me personally don’t see any whining from people.

I think the cash shop is a necessary evil. I just wish more of the items where affordable to support the game.

    Anyway, this thread is about the FOMO and time-gated items, sorry, didn't mean to spark a discussion on the cash shop. ^^;

It's actually more about items you can earn in game since that's where most of the time-gated stuff that exists are in. Where honestly most of the frustration comes from.
