The concept of Meteion is very Japanese and cringy. Why make a series of probes a person with emotions? Makes zero sense. You don't want to a probe to have emotions for the whole reason as depicted in the stories, it might get sad and come back and try to kill everyone. Meteion is just Japanese V'Ger.
While I have little to no Japanese media culture, I essentially agree.
The main plotpoint of Endwalker, and to be fair, the whole Hydealyn / Zodiark ark being set on such a thoughtless decision from Hermes still doesn't sit well with me, 5 years later. The whole "treatment of depression and hopelessness" in Endwalker feels so shallow to me.
