I want to roll Lala regardless of how it effects gameplay. The problem would be, then, that if stats did effect according to race, those of us that like a certain race will be forced to use other races for jobs that we like. If your suggestion thread succeeds, it will only spawn much more complaint threads.

Am I the only one who enjoys overcoming adverse odds? In FFXI I would roll a Galka White Mage for the challenge of proving myself. I would level PUP and BST and DRG and BLU and other lolClasses because I wanted to prove that I'm not some slouch who can't be useful.

I know this isn't everyone else's mindset, so it can't really be used as an argument for racial stat bonuseshindrances. But still...

Not really....it just means you have to pay more attention to what you're doing instead of slacking off and hoping your racial bonus to x stat will cover for your laziness.

No, since it's something you want to do and enjoy doing. Being a masochist would mean you enjoy doing stuff that pains you to do.

Once again it's easy to find information for a game people actually care about. If people cared about XIV as much as they did other MMOs you'd be able to find information a lot more readily as well. No bookmarks necessary.



Go into the character creator of XIV and look at the stat differences between clans (if available)..it already exists in this game it's just the way stats work they really have nil impact on anything, much like in XI it had zero impact on anything but the absolute early levels (lower mp base = obviously less spell casting = less things dead) but once you hit around the cap (75, 76-99 the stat raises does very little for you) any racial difference is nil due to the gear options and merits. A taru blm can be just as shitty as a galka blm, the taru would have a higher MP base and therefore produce more shit whereas a good Galka BLM will have a smaller MP base but not suck.

I've seen better Galka mages than Taru mages due to the fact THE COMMUNITY are hardcoded to believe the tiniest of details matters when the game mechanics doesn't necessarily tell you 1 race will suck compared to another.

No other race could beat a taru blm in dmg while wearing the same gear. Never seen any other race break damn near raw 4k freeze before the 75 cap was lifted. Also taru and mithra plds was pretty bad cause of lower hp pools. Most plds in XI was either Hume and Elf cause they had the best stats for it.

That was only true in crappy ls with crappy players who had crappy gear, which to be fair was almost everyone.

/Nod Yeah my endgames main tanks were a Mithra and Taru. People just used small stat difference as excuses for sucking. Skill > Gear > Race. I like how people cant use that as an excuse as to why they suck in this game cause bad=bad. Also why would I wanna play a hume in a game when i'm one irl.....

I'm all for overcoming adversity and using lesser appreciated classes and jobs but I don't want my race to be part of that. I don't want to feel like I'm gimped just because I chose Hyur over Miqo'te or Roegadyn.

Even in FFXI racial bonuses, while nice, hardly mattered except at the very very very very peak of perfection and elitist groups and runs.

Unless you are planning on getting into a pissing contest for the #1 DPS in the server it shouldn't really throw anything off balance. Besides you're a Hyur, you would be the most balanced out of all the races anyways. No one would ever deny you a slot because of it.
