Everyone has different tastes, so it’d be nice if there were options to choose what we like rather than saying something looks ‘bad’ for everyone.
If someone wants to wear satin or shiny silver, that’s their choice — let them do what they want.

If that option existed from the start, it shouldn’t have been removed, especially for something from the store I paid for that looked good before the "improvement"

It’s really sad to see they kept ruining metallic dyes. As if the new ones weren’t already bad, now they’re also ‘fixing’ the old ones nobody asked for

I miss the leathery look that gunmetal black gave to my street jacket so much. I had to drop a jet black on it to make it look half as good now. I don't even wear it as much anymore because of how ass the new material looks.

The Dress of Light also got borked. Pearl white dye makes it look permanently wet. Regular dyes make it look almost like its made of velvet. I think the top part is also somewhat transparent now? It almost looks like there's a boob window that wasn't there previously. Sucks that they've screwed up some shop items this badly.

If this is the direction they’re going, it feels like sooner or later all store glams will get ‘improved’ too.
Even the new Fantasia collab attire already doesn’t work well with metallic dyes.

So what outfit are we going to get ruined in 7.5? Because it's inevitable, they've shown exactly zero concern about this, while people claimed the abysmal 2nd dye channels on existing gear (you know, where you paint a barely visible pixel inside a tiny button of your shirt) was due to the devs caring oh so much about players' existing glamours/dyes.

So basically any level 1 glamour and item store outfit that wasn't touched or released in 7.0-7.4x is threatened?

Just realized it's been a year since that "upgrade" and nothing really changed. I pretty much stopped using that attire, same with some others. Maybe the 7.5 dye changes will fix it somehow, but that might just be wishful thinking.

The odd thing is that the metallic dye still looks ok (or at least the same to me) on some pieces but not others. For example, the hat in that set still looks shiny and metallic with pearl white, but the pants look entirely matted now.

This is a problem with material effects in general with the graphics update though, most noticeable to me in housing furnishings. ALL old furnishings lost material effects from the graphics update EXCEPT gold. That is the only material that actually shines like metal is supposed to in old furnishings. Marble and other metals have no shine or reflective quality anymore (they all look like cardboard now) unless they are recently-added furnishings.

It drives me nuts in my rooms when comparing them to old pics, less so on some glam personally. But I can see why this particular set would bother people. I will rock the hat on dancer boy forever! It's especially problematic with cash shop items because you are essentially not getting what you paid for anymore.

I know they have been going through and updating textures on older items gradually. Maybe they they just have yet to get to the street set?

They updated the Street Attire in 7.2, and it doesn't look good with metallic dyes anymore. It used to be shiny with them, but now it looks dull. It's great that they're improving the old glams, but they shouldn't ruin them in the process.

l tinkered with things in textools before. there is a kind of number you can choose on a dye channel. some does make metallic dye dull instead of shiny. idk why they would so it though

The graphics update has consistently been pretty lazy, and only a handful of things have gotten a second pass after they shipped with something broken. It's probably not deliberate, they just don't care or don't have time.

They did it again… *sigh* another store outfit ruined.
I used metallic gold on the Far Eastern Enforcer’s Attire and it looked great before — now it looks really bad.
I’m guessing they "updated" other glams too, but I haven’t checked everything yet.
If they don’t care about this, they might as well just remove metallic dyes entirely.
