They updated the Street Attire in 7.2, and it doesn't look good with metallic dyes anymore. It used to be shiny with them, but now it looks dull. It's great that they're improving the old glams, but they shouldn't ruin them in the process.

The new system they use for dyes/colours seems to be awful with metallic dyes in general. Same reason the Night of Devilry Shirt doesn't work well with metallic dyes at all. Honestly they really should find a way around it so these items can work properly, because sooner or later as they update more gear, metallic dyes just aren't gonna work at all.
Oh WOW that looks awful. Even regular dye isn't great tbh, it looks weird and crunchy.
I’d get it if it was just a regular in-game glam, but this is something from the store we paid for (17.50 €/22 $). They should either put more effort into it or just leave it as is.
The issue is inherent to the wholeass new dye system. They're gonna have to rework it somehow to work with metallic dyes.
I've been unhappy with dyes on newer equipment for a long time.
Anything with "HD textures" seems to dye poorly and patchily.
Adding modern glam is also very important for players on consoles. People on pc are modding modern glam into ff14 for a long time now.
Why? Because there is a strong request for such stuff.
And through official vanilla modern sets all(!) players have access to some modern aesthetics.

So SE broke something else Alexandrian themed in an update patch, I'm shocked.
can anyone post a shot of this? I'm at work but I'm morbidly curious how it looks....
Had to check it out myself as well when I read it. Seems that they did the same for most of the glams they "touched up". Honestly I am gutted. I've been dyeing my glams silver since HW, as I really like the gloss and shine it gives off and reflects the colours around you. I was already upset when I noticed the metallic change on most DT gear, but seeing that they ruin older gear as well is making me scared that they'll ruin my favourite glam pieces eventually.
Not gonna lie, if they do that I might actually end up quitting over it.
I can deal with all the jank they throw at us (be it jobs or encounters), I can Fantasia to my hearts content until I am satisfied with my character again, I can find some way to enjoy the story that has not been fun at all (though I did enjoy 7.2 a lot more than I thought I would), however if they keep gutting the metallic dyes then that's when my character will no longer feel like my character anymore.
I've been happily rocking the same glamour since I started playing this game, shine and all.
On pretty much all the DT gear the metallic dyes look so matte. They miss that shine that metallic dyes should give, or rather, used to have now. It just looks weird honestly. They really should give us the shine/gloss back, and if they're at it, add it to the DT pieces too, I would use them a lot more if they'd look like the pre-DT metallic dyes.
This is how they look now:
This is what the colour used to be:
