CoP was the second expansion to the game.

I suppose you could compare 2.0 to being something like FFXIV's first expansion similar to RotZ, perhaps the first real expansion will give us that same feeling.

I am very much for capped instances and level sync, CoP was amazing both in its design and storyline.

The only thing I didn't like about it (and anything in 11 really) is that it was sometimes almost impossible to make a party, thankfully content finder should solve this issue in 14, so bring on the capped content

After 2.0 finishes and the Dev team can finally start thinking about only new content / expansions I think we should have some chanelleging content that not everyone can do, it doesn't have to be CoP hard (like at the beggining) but something close so that theres a feel of accomplishment when only a handful of the population can do it.

I think se has really great ideas for content, but they are too afraid to let go of the industry standard xp grind.

What i really want to see is some more PvE like in Cutter's Cry, Aurum Vale, and the primal fights, where the environment around you is just as dangerous as the foe you are fighting. But instead of just making it end game, make it open world. Discourage the xp party grind by substantially reducing the xp gained from normal mobs, and only keep them in the game for farming their drops and crafting, etc.

Change most open world dungeons so that players have to figure them out and work their way through them. Eliminate the zerg like fights we see now, where you are killing pointless number of easy enemies to get through a dungeon (most people just run past em anyway), and instead introduce mini-bosses into open world dungeons that are much more difficult to take down, but award substantial XP for doing so. These are the mobs that folks will want to grind off of to level up.

And of course, introduce dungeon bosses that are a much more challenging to kill then the current nm's in game, but drop high quality gear, crafting materials, and collectible items used in minigames.

CoP wasn't fun. Level cap areas are simply stupid. There is no reason for a level cap. It's an arbitrary challenge. It's for people who can't create a challenging design in other areas. I hated buying and storing gear for the ridiculous level capped areas. I hated not having access to the abilities and gear I worked so hard to get. Leveling is quicker in this game so why even bother with level caps? Can't they create challenge and interest in new and exciting ways?

Not to mention that the entire game plan for CoP up to the Lv.60 missions was Astral Flow the boss. CoP took a grand deal of time because you spent your time walking from one half of Vana'Diel to the other half to talk to an obscure NPC you wouldn't have been able to find without a walkthrough. If you weren't wasting time wandering around the world, you were sitting and waiting for your 2hour to recharge. God forbid you lost a boss fight. It wasn't a restructure of strategies, it was a wait at entrance for our 2 hours. Then kill the boss with a 2 hour zerg. Then by the time you hit the Lv.60 cap you were farming for the rare/ex item for Airship fight. Of course if you wiped, you had to go farm again or buy the mats since they were rare/ex.

Your reward was then a convoluted nightmare of decreasing boss pops.

Even though you are trying sooo hard to make it not sound fun; It still sounds fun, even the way you are making it out to be. CoP <Yes, please.>

Thats why you would need level sync/amour sync so you could still wear the same gear. (which 11 did several years later)

You think that doing Easy Ifrit and Garuda is a challenge at lvl 50 ? or would it be better if you were capped at 25 and 40.

Level caps preserve the challange... being able to go into something at 50 and just tear it down is pointless.

Think of Totorak. If it capped your level say at 30 and added some items still decent at 50 it would be valid content for everyone even with the fast leveling.

As it stands now all that work the devs put into Totorak is more or less wasted.

You're missing the point. Level cap is a baseless challenge. It's a cop-out. We can't think of any other way to make this challenging, let's put in a level cap. It lets them off the hook for creating interesting and unique mobs or dungeons.

You're also bringing up low level Ifrit and Garuda. They aren't the same thing. The only purpose of low level primals is to advance the storyline. They don't want people getting bottlenecked in missions. There is a difference between mobs you fight for missions and mobs you fight for drops.
