Dungeons: Add Phoenix Down Drops

I can't begin to name how many times I've carried a raid and needed to use a higher-level Ether to regain some mp back, or how food made a run go smoother and faster, even in the normal ones. Your inventory shouldn't be full carrying like 5 or 6 different things.

I agree. I’m a master crafter and I habitually carry stacks of all the materials for the current top-end gear, top-end crafting food, and top-end potions. I also carry stacks of combat, crafting, and gathering food (two types of the latter), Super-Ethers for when I have to rez a lot, strength potions for when I want more damage, healing potions for when I screw up and the healer is busy, Grade 8 Dark Matter for repairs, three different kinds of aetheryte tickets, and these days also Phoenix Downs. Despite carrying all this stuff I generally have about a page and a half of unused inventory space, which is plenty of space for anything I need to temporarily carry. Spending a few extra inventory slots on things that help your game go more smoothly isn’t a big deal, let alone spending one inventory slot to help the rest of the party.

That sounds like a you problem. I've personally never had issues spiritbonding for crafting and gathering materia... If I do, I have the means to get an ungodly amount of scrips to buy the materia needed by keeping the mats for certain collectables.... Like most crafter's should have... And for gathering, it's fairly quick to do a route along most timed nodes to get the spiritbond needed quite quickly... So quite literally wasting your battle materia like that is not very bright considering how easy spiribonding is when doing master recipes or timed nodes.

Edit: When I initially responded I thought you just didn't like the work for the hand/land materia, but I see the knowledge might not be there on how simple it is nowadays to get that materia. A lot quicker and more cost effective to do what was suggested, but keep burning your battle materia, at least you won't be swimming in it like us. To reiterate; spirit bonding on nodes for gathering has been significantly increased. You fully bond significantly faster gathering from timed nodes, even level 90 ones.

I'm well aware of how it works, thanks. I'm glad you assume that I'm an idiot though, it does wonders for credibility. I use everything available to me to get materia, and I have a retainer dedicated to it for pentamelding, but also for storing because I literally play every job there is and every crafter/gatherer there is. When I have to mess with the shit RNG of the pentameld game, yes it's a 'me problem' because I can burn though a lot of materia.

And, to be clear, I'm not against Phoenix Downs being dropped from the dungeons. I just think it's an overkill move, much like the combat materia that is hardly used.

Can we be allowed to buy Phoenix Downs with Grand Company Seals? GC Seals are largely worthless to me now and I'd love to have something useful to stock

Same for Poetics. I would gladly buy Downs straight from a vendor rather than have to sell poetics items for gil and then go to another NPC to prep.

You indirectly already can. There's several GC mats that typically sell for 1k-4k each. Buy those with your seals, sell 'em on the marketboard, go buy phoenix downs. It'd admittedly be nice to cut out the middleman though.

I would only accept this if it replaced the random Materia drops, but it's already miserable to farm the latest dungeon for glams so I have already 43 Mistwake items and most of the are accessories and dupe armor pieces so I can't hold anymore of them for all my alt jobs after 20 days or farming it once or twice a day.

Also, it's much easier and faster to visit LL to buy feathers than hope that they will drop during dungeons, and I always ask for feathers if the healer goes down and I try to type as fastest as possible to remind them too.

Am I misremembering or did Phoenix Downs used to cost 10k? I checked the website and they seemingly only cost 1k now. Basically no excuse to not have a few of them unless you main a rezing job.

Until 7.3, they couldn't be purchased at all, and were only available as drops from Deep Dungeons and through Market Board, they were also marked as Unique, so you could only carry one, their overhaul made them stack to 999.

I think cutting the middleman would be great.

GC seals would also be a great way to get Phoenix Downs, but dungeon drops would at least ensure they were in your inventory. Maybe a 10% drop rate so it doesn't get overloaded in dungeons.

See, now THIS I can get behind because the only thing my GC seals go towards anymore are gamble boxes trying to get 1 last mount and 1 last minion. I won't say no to blowing a 80,000+ stack of GC seals on only 2-3 boxes while the rest get dumped into Phoenix Downs, however many it might be, until I hit cap on them.
