    8.0 job thought

    Just a thought... bring back from way back when leveling multiple classes meant something. You want your paladin to heal, level whm some then. Your black mage is stealing aggro ... OK they got rid of bards lose aggro skill... and make it easy for tank to hold aggro now. I do like how some things are stream lined and simple now, but also that makes classes cookie cutter this is best way to play without having to think as much.

    For overhaul would be fun to have classes you know steal from other classes you know and make your strong bursts more reserved for when it's needed as a safety net. I know I might be one of few in that but it was interesting to piece together new ideas for new content for your character to overcome, not just know where to stand and move for the new boss.

    While I enjoyed them to an extent and honestly wish this game had a subjob adjacent system like FFXI to improve customization of play, you will never see cross class skills return. In a game like this, they aren't optional. Cross class skills were mandatory, if you didn't have them people didn't bring you for high end content. This resulted in heavy complaining and they were removed and replaced with role abilities.

    It's a flaw with the design of the game really. Cross class skills were poorly implemented. I'd love to see them take another crack at something like it, ideally with more customization like subjobs offer in XI as I said, but SE seems to want to take player choice away rather than give us more unfortunately. We don't even have talent trees which is a VERY basic MMO feature almost every game has except this one. They design jobs to be played one way and one way only with zero actual thought or choice on the part of the player.

    Yes, everything is linear in this game, there's no "builds" whether it be gearing or using jobs differently. Players who are interested in combat content are losing taste in the game because everything is bland, and they keep removing job identity.
    Let's see where 8.0 gets us :copium:

    Considering this is literally what the community asked for (cross-classing was universally despised), I have a hard time seeing them bring it back in any way, shape or form lol.

    I think it could be cool with major adjustments and changes to how it worked, but it’s a pointless exercise to think ‘what if’ when we already had it and the playerbase rejected the concept entirely

    I wonder if we're getting mystic knight. Since we also have an Variant Dungeon about Corvos, it might be a sneak peak to the mystic knight.

    No way at least one of the next dpsers is not an aiming job. Would also match their intention (grain of salt, yet to be seen) of highlighting job identity again in 8.0, as the aiming group is the one that struggles the most on this matter.

    since RDM is getting range to make its life easier and have its identity stripped more because "jobs are not allowed to have slightly inconveniences to their personal dps not matching buff times." Like its okey to not be top dps, its not gone end the fight, its ok to miss burst timer as the fights are still 100% clearable but since this is the path they going.

    8.0 is gone have Melee classes have 25yard range activation for 15s to do their burst at any distance on 60s cooldown so they can add more mechanics but still let melee do full rotation at range.

    If we're going to pretend closs class is possible I personally rather have something like class specs where some jobs like RDM or PLD could spec into healing, or a DPS sage build ot Tank samurai build, Though this is so unrealistic, I suppose only the trusts will be crossclassing for ffxiv.

    If I'm being real all I hope for is better Job identity and more class complexity which is about the opposite we're getting with the changes like BLM and RDM get

    How much you wanna bet that this will be what true north does once they also remove positionals for being too complicated
