The snowy weather in main cities

It affects Carp Diem (Old Gridania), Spearnose (The Goblet), Sweetnewt (The Lavender Beds), and Twitchbeard (Mist). You might be thinking of Stormdancer in new Gridania which has 100% uptime during the event.

No it isn't. Frozen region to the north, desert and tropical to the south. Eorzea has to be in the northern-hemisphere temperate zone, even if we didn't have the view from space to confirm that it's north of the equator.

You can just go to the moon and look at Etheirys to confirm for yourself.

Personally I could care less though if there is snow in a weird region in a fantasy game after all it is a fantasy game, a final one in fact.

Yes, point is, people made mention years ago that Snow conflicted with the Gridania one, and SE made it so that Snow was considered a valid weather for it to be catchable. So they should just make the other City-State based Big Fish also be catchable in Snow, and TBH I'm not really sure why they haven't yet


As for the fact that Eorzea gets snow at all, Coerthas used to be very green in 1.0, and now it is not. Bahamut did a number on the Aether/Elemental Balance of the world, and a lot of things don't work how they used to when it comes to weather. If the Lore says that Coerthas got flash-frozen 5 years ago and hasn't warmed up since, I can also absolutely believe that it gets cold enough to snow at times in the other City-States

Although, I'm not convinced Eorzea is in the north hemisphere, the Photoshop in the Reddit topic Celliera provided seems hell-bent on being white-european-centrist than to prove anything. Also, there isn't any hot deserts in Europe.

But we don't know if the horizontal axis is well represented in the world map., or even known to Eorzeans.

Oh I'll bite... it was determined back in this old thread on the 1.0 forum over a decade ago (and as Celliera pointed out, just go to the Moon and look up at Etheirys Hydaelyn above - the Three Great Contintents (of which Eorzea is a part), are in the 'northern' or upper part of the planet, as is Tural and the Sharlayan islands. The southern hemisphere or lower part of Hydaelyn is mostly empty save for Meracydia (the large wedge shaped continent, which is a rough amalgam of Australia and Africa), and the South Sea Islands chains (which are more like Hawaii and other Pacific islands).

Of course there was some discussion in that thread about perspective being entirelly subjective, but unless something was mentioned in the lorebooks (which I do not possess), I still hold that determination as correct. I am totally happy to be proven wrong though!
