I reckon it would be amazing,

However I dont think many of the final fantasy fans today have played anything pre X

    and definately not pre VII

    So.....

I however think it would be amazing and would love to fight Sephiroth etc .

The idea is ok, and thus reason they plan to take elements from prior games and implement them into 14. One such thing is Crystal Tower along with the Legacy Weapons. They plan to make small nods to all the past games but throwing all game elements from all the past game is a BAD idea this way is much better.

This way we get a original story that is pure 14 with additions that make since to the world from the past games we love. I was actually happy to hear this when it first was told; get small story, plot, side-quest, npcs, lore, and items that pay tribute the the history of the series.

    re OP,

I've been with the FF series since FFI on the Famicom/NES So I'm as old-school as a FF fan can be.

Your initial proposal is interesting, but I don't think it's right for this series. This sort of overt fan-service is more a hallmark of nintendo, capcom or namco rather than SE. It works for less serious games, not epic storylines.

FFXII did a fantastic job bringing back the old FF bosses as espers. It would be nice to see the zodiac of FF bosses become the standard upper pantheon of summons in future FF games.

FFIX also had nice fan service in it's return of the four fiends, FFX brought back the Magus Sisters, FFXI had the original game's starting Jobs, and FFXIII.... well.... it reminded me of how forgettable FFII was.

However, when it comes to fan-service and borrowed elements, no FF game does it better than XIV.

    We have:
    • FFI: The universal FF elements: Airships, Crystals, etc..
    • FFII: Old SP system based on actions was lifted from FFII's "leveling" system... Nothing currently though.
    • FFIII: Crystal Tower
    • FFIV: The Two Moons
    • FFV: Cross Job (Class) ability equipping
    • FFVI: Magitek (the concept art of the 'mount' is the EXACT same design as FFVI, awesome fan service there!) World of Ruin (post 2.0 landscape)
    • FFVII: Materia, Meteor as a world destroying spell.
    • FFVIII: Gunblades
    • FFIX: Quina's fork (Mog LNC weapon lol)
    • FFX: Nothing comes to mind... if they add swimming maybe...
    • FFXI: Main Races, Campaign (Grand Company), Garuda (summon version), Artifact Armor, Sanction, Linkshells, much more...
    • FFXII: Judges (Empire Generals) - Art Direction is also similar
    • FFXIII: eh.. the now-removed action/stamina bar, Perhaps Dalamud is like Coccoon...
    • FFT: Multi-class prerequisites for unlocking new jobs

Stuff that would be fantastic to see added to FFXIV:
    • FFI : The four fiends with their own elemental dungeons
    • FFIII: Evoker Class → Summoner Job
    • FFIV: Visit to the moon, magnetic cave, Demon Wall
    • FFV: Gilgamesh (or like FFXII version)
    • FFVI: True Auction House, Colosseum
    • FFVII: Ruby/Emerald weapons (maybe when the cap hits 90)
    • FFVIII: Triple Triad, Quezacoatl as a Summon
    • FFIX: Chocobo Hot and Cold, Treasure Map hunting
    • FFX: Shoopuf style mounts for crossing special terrain into new areas.
    • FFXI: BC fights, Nyzul Isle type dungeon, Large scale events, endgame.
    • FFXII: Mob Hunts, Zodiac Espers
    • FFXIII: Voice Acting
    • FFT: Chemist/Engineer Class, more building on a "Job Tree" type system

yeah but see, that's different. gilgamesh is a dimensional hopper who always mantains his purpose in life.
dimension hopping yourself to meet characters from other final fantasy titles just because you liked their games is cheesy.

FF have serious story lines, finite storylines. They begin and they end.

its not about the characters, its about stories bigger than these people who become grand because of the circumstances.

I don't want to walk into cecil's and rosa's married life. what the hell. I don't want to see what they're up to. That's fan service for the sake of fan service.

Its a neat idea I guess but I vastly prefer playing a new storyline with new characters... Especially in my MMO.

And you are crazy if you say those regions belong to different games. Do you even know where do the Red Guard, Breton or Khajiit come from? Duh, all of them except the Orc has appeared in all TES. Orc is the only exception that they re-rise to civilisation during Daggerfall event.
"The in-game world will feature the entire environments from Skyrim to Morrowind", however the map will not be entirely open for exploration, as certain areas are planned to be used for future expansions. Cyrodiil will make for the main capital of the raging war, where players can engage in endgame PvP"

the art style was amazing you are crazy.. how do they look like they have down syndrome, unless you are referring to rusty(steiner, the knight you hate so much) he was a great character who developed a lot throughout the game
the only character I did not care for was quina, but I liked blue mage so I used her on other playthroughs other than my first)

kuja did look effeminate, but so did kefka, and Seymour, and many others(who gives a fk)

and I will have you know mithra/miqo'te would not exist if it were not for ff9 tailed hero(citation needed, but I read it from someone at square during XI release)

its the best mainline final fantasy there ever was so SHUT YOUR TRAP
the best mainline final fantasy? NOT AT ALL.

    final fantasy tactics.
    final fantasy xii.
final fantasy 7 and 8 even, and they are way more mainstream.
    ffx is better too.
hell, final fantasy 5 and 6? hands down better.

ffix was a HUGE step back in FF quality.
its funny how even the older final fantasy titles have better art than ffix's crap. they are hideously deformed. the proportions are all wrong on most people... but on some not. consistency, can I have it?

    ^^ I can't believe you'd even dare compare this.

    ^^ with this crap.

the art is so lousy on this game that garnet's arms are longer's than zidane's while HE is actually taller.
its like they used different canons for everyone.

half the people look like super deformed midgets with down syndrome while kuja is actually a full sized human being.

You need to take one or two art classes.

    You missed the point entirely.
Its about mantaining proportions and a canon.

Kuja has a different canon, for example.

And even then you can't justify the arm disproportion.

Actually, I like the idea of elements from the other games aside from the heroes... We are the heroes of FFXIV.
