I PAY just as much, if not more, because im on the 15/m sub, than every single other person playing this game. why do *I* have to make concessions to get access to a system I AM PAYING FOR?

They advertise housing as part of the fucking game, so it should be available to ALL subscribers no matter which server or home world they are on! IF i have the money to pay for a large, i should be able to walk up, and get one, so i can enjoy housing.

saying "just switch home worlds" doesn't fucking work, because people have built communities and friends and are parts of active FCs but you want us to abandon all that instead of just telling squeenix to FIX THEIR BROKEN SYSTEM.

It's definitely a huge ask, which is why even as someone on Dynamis who has seen the number of houses that go unclaimed I can't always suggest a transfer to someone, knowing everything they could be leaving behind just to get a house.

It might be a viable option for some, if their friend circle/FC is willing to make the move too, but that's still placing unrealistic expectations on the players instead of Square-Enix just making a housing system that doesn't screw over anybody, or how the current ward system has fundamentally failed at its intention of creating "cozy neighborhood vibes" when most people don't interact with each other and half the houses are owned by submarine farms printing gil 24/7 anyway. (I still maintain that killing gil from submarines would do a lot to fix housing in mixed wards.)

I'm sure someone will jump in and point out that a bunch of plots across Aether/Primal/Crystal recently opened up due to demo timers activating again, but even if we put aside what a YIKES that is where THOUSANDS of players just upped and left across three data centers, there's the issue that a bunch of people are still going to end up empty-handed because there's still not enough houses to go around (doubly so on Aether and Crystal).

I'm sure someone will jump in and point out that a bunch of plots across Aether/Primal/Crystal recently opened up due to demo timers activating again, but even if we put aside what a YIKES that is where THOUSANDS of players just upped and left across three data centers, there's the issue that a bunch of people are still going to end up empty-handed because there's still not enough houses to go around (doubly so on Aether and Crystal).

Those were gone in 2 cycles and it’s back to the slow drip of auto-demos every 9 days…

Still wish they’d add an instanced system. Maybe if WoW’s is successful they’ll feel pressured to compete. The cozy neighborhood would be great if everyone could have a house, and actually create their own neighborhood with friends and FC mates. But you can’t, and so I’d much rather have a plot off on my own with some generic background scenery (and maybe make new ones occasionally like housing skins) and other innovations that an instanced system can provide.

So are you entitled to all plots and plot sizes? If they release something larger then a mansion, suddenly you can argue that you're entitled to that as well. When apts didn't exist, you couldn't participate is housing if you didnt have a plot, so they were advertising a feature, players actually couldn't utilize if they didn't have a plot. However with the introduction of Apts. That feature discrepancy was fixed. So now you can participate in Housing without a plot. My issue was not being able to participate in housing without the plot. You're saying everyone should be granted a plot, not the inability to participate in housing as a feature. My argument is as long as you are given a baseline access to something, anything more within it can be subjected to whatever game design they want to apply to it

How the system has operated to me IMO, has been a sort of "upgrade" system. You get what you can, and work your way up. Once Apts were implemented, that is the baseline housing system. The plots are the "upgrades" but the larger it is the more scarce they are and harder to obtain. So its expected to get comfortable in your current home before you can upgrade to something bigger. When you obtain a bigger plot, you decorate and get cozy, while looking towards your next upgrade. When will that happen? I don't know. But your sub likely will be active while you're looking.

I see them using housing as a carrot on a stick, and given its a MMO, I'm fine with it. Most people are more invested in obtaining the house over months to years to obtain it, over the few weeks of decoration they'll do before they move on.

I think the housing ward neighborhood feel can work, but it needs people who are INVESTED in the system to make it work. Right now, its more mostly hoarding, because its something not everyone has. And that in itself gives it value. Not the housing system, players still have access to that and still don't value it highly. But the plots, those are what players want. Not everyone has one, so you wanna be one of those lucky ones to have one.

LOl I imagine S.E is watching and seeing how it pans out. They have data on player engagement with the housing system here and have a pulse on who's engaging with it. So they kinda have an idea of who's ear Blizzard is talking into. I mean I'm curious too. I want to see if their version of housing has the legs to not become another "eh." aspect that players tinker slightly with and then hardly ever touch again.

What is a huge ask? What are they leaving behind? Because if you wanna be real about it. The only real difference is like not being in the same FC. I had a friend leave to go to Siren for a plot. And what changed? I can visit them anytime I want, they can visit me any time they want. If I wanna talk to them, we aren't restricted to in-game to chat, I just go through discord. They are PC and I am a console user.So what exactly changed? If they can be reached just as easily as if they were still on my server?

I mean they just upped and left one day, couldn't find a plot on Excalibur, so they went to where they could find a plot they wanted. I was bummed they left. But what really changed? They're right here. Not on my Server or DC but still just as easy to reach, but to them housing IS a high priority. They are willing to the drop $25 to transfer to get that plot (or take the FREE server transfer). And if you don't want to thats fine. But you have to deal with the consequence of that choice.

Because you're not directly paying for the system. You're paying for the transfer. Technically.

Like I can be subbed for housing, but that's not what I'm paying for. Im paying for access to XIV, not housing directly. (Your house doesn't get demolished w/o a subscription active. But it can be demolished with an active subscription as well. Which is why, they can say, housing isn't tied to your subscription, because technically it isnt, you need to go inside it at some point to keep it. But that requires a subscription at some point. But it is not required to have a current active subscription to keep your plot.)

Its all about how they de-fang your argument, by offering you an alternative. Like if you don't want to pay for a transfer, free transfers exist.
