Hooray, free login campaign. Enjoy slowly building your echo chamber when the only people who ever truly cared about this game leave one by one.

Didn't even feel like making a new glam the 5 minutes I was logged in, because this fucking company still won't give us the most basic QoL like multiple glamour plates per job (with the rare few glams they actually ended up upgrading the textures/2 dye layers for, what a let down that was too). Zero hope for there being any improvements to the job identities actually having any real... well, identity (i.e. the entire point of any class-based game). Even the story sucks now, the only real selling point this game ever had over its competitors.

I'll hop between free logins until my house goes into demolition, but yeah, I don't see this game ever pulling up again. No commitment to a direction, no creative leadership, executives who just see the game as a cash cow that people will pay for forever regardless of investment. I hope I get proven wrong, but I'm a realist. A corrupted game is less likely to be become good again than it is likely for a far better competitor learning from its mistakes eventually to rise up. I'm looking at other new MMOs now more than FF14. Eventually one of them will do everything 14 did but better.

Now here's a toxic take - "Only the doomsayers on this forum ever cared about the game. None of the many people who are still having a blast playing the game ever really cared, because they're...having fun..." What? Such a closed-minded approach to claim only people who think like you actually care, and anyone with a different opinion must not...

There's a very clear commitment to a direction; it just happens to be one you don't like. Which is okay! Nothing says you have to like it, but that doesn't mean we can just deny it exists.

Very true. We'll disagree on seeing FFXIV as "corrupted," but a very true statement nonetheless.

I'll be the realist here. That's not going to happen. The age of MMO's is long past. I highly doubt we're going to see another MMO that will rival WoW and FFXIV.
