Probably one of them is similar to mine once. I mostly tank with Warrior, and I got that to level 80. Yet I realize, I should not level that any further. I should level one of the other tanks. So I think, sure I'll take my Paladin, level 50. I get into a leveling dungeon, and it's Aurum Vale! I realize my gear for Paladin was crap. I realized this as mobs were hitting me hard, and eventually the boss. The party is very patient with me, and we finally get past the first boss, but I die at it. At that point, I tell them thank you for trying, but I have to bow out so they can get a tank that is better geared and won't annoy them further. That was embarrassing. So it's possible some hard focused another tank or another class and didn't realize they should probably have watched a video guide on how to tank before trying.

On main I genuinely shut my mouth until asked, because I know the reputation Mentors have. On my alt, which is a "Sprout" I'm like um... How do I say this nicely, I've resorted to just shutting up but when you're sitting in the room with the newbie who is getting frustrated, I dunno.
That’s tough when they are right there with you, you can see the frustration first hand. Yeah Im always unsure if people want advice or help, or if they enjoy figuring it out on their own.. so I just try and be polite and positive, offering help if we wipe. No idea if my play times line up with you guys, but I’d be happy to help out if I can! Feel free to reach out in game Sko Nay-Famfrit or disc mags2663. New tanks are a lovely and welcome addition!

First thing I learned as a mentor: Never help anyone unless they ask for it. Because they can just as likely be offended by unrequested help being offered.

I can't know what you do, and do not know, unless you tell me.

I feel they do it because they have the experience that it does change, not because they magically improved over the last pull, but because each pull will trim down one or two enemies, until it becomes manageable, and they don't seem to understand that's what happening and not that they performed better all of sudden, of course, that can't happen if you are wiping before any enemies die at all.

Do you ever run into situations where random players will reach out for help/questions? When I have questions I usually just go right to a friend of FC mate.

Not common. But yeah. Had one a few weeks ago where someone started DM'ing me about my Ultimate weapon I had glammed on. They had other questions too, so I answered 'em.

Fair, but that's self awareness vs just not giving a damn. Whenever I notice something go awry in dungeons, gear is the first thing I check, whether it be the tank or the healer. That determines what can and cannot be done. So for a tank, geared nonetheless, to run himself stupid into the same walls, that's rather aggravating. I was fortunate enough to not deal with this much when I started healing as I always had people to play with who tanked for me and properly taught me how to heal. Our newbie however, doesn't have that luxury. Unless I commit to constantly tanking my way through ARR - DT.

You are probably right. I usually play ranged dps, so in this case I know I can kite a few mobs down until I absolutely eat the floor. But lord. I'm tired lmao

Yeah it doesn't happen very often but on a rare occasion someone asks, but I think it's more a case like above - about glamour or if you just happen to be the person around to answer said question. I tend to not give unsolicited advices anyway because y'know. That's just how it be.

I am happy to teach and guide anyone TRULY new and willing to learn. I find such people are never slow, they strive to improve and push themselves, and often thank me for helping them. Purposefully holding others back due to some toxic sense of individuality is something i'm quite alergic to. I apolagize, it is difficult to explain the difference despite being a simple concept.
your list they were referring was extremely condescending and elitists. You could have simply just said, If you are new to a job or just not familiar enough with something ask to slow down, plain simple. Maybe it will run the dungeon an extra 30 seconds to a minutes. But seriously if you are getting that bent on you may just want to do premade and just queue up with whatever you need filled.
