    Next up for PvP…more modes

    For those who haven’t been following, a massive debate has been going on about frontline. The conversation has brought a real issue with PvP to light. THERE ARENT ENOUGH VERSIONS OF PVP. Take a bow PvP devs, you guys knocked this content out the box. With that being said…you’ve created a hunger in our competitive pocket of the world.

    A more mid-core/ranked version of frontline would be an amazing idea.
    Different modes added to CC. HVT (high valued target), Domination, King of the Hill, etc. I personally play more PvP then PvE and more outlets would be an amazing addition.

    Join in everyone. List the modes you’d like to see with details. Maybe the community can help our devs out with ideas.

    I think they should take Rival Wings, put it on a roulette, and make it palatable. I know that last remark is going to piss off a lot of my peers who like me have hundreds of matches in the mode, but Hidden Gorge is like six maps crammed in one with mechs that aren't fun to play as or play against and they massively increased the tempo of the mode without adjusting the side objectives and map scale to match. It has good ideas and just needs to be tightened up, and Astragalos should likewise get a bit of work done and brought back.

    Think we have a good "I just want to PvP let me fight people" mode in FL, a good small scale mode with a nice range of approachability with unranked VS ranked CC, so they should round it off with a nice large scale mode with 2 teams that has just a little more complexity than FL (IE something like the MOBA mechanics RW has), but less than RW has now. Have two alternating RW maps with their own daily challenge and you're golden.

    I did like your idea of 8vs8vs8. A smaller scale Frontlines. Which would require premades. The idea of it seems interesting, I just don't know how it would play out. How about a mode where you just duo queue with a friend, and you face off against another duo queue? Also hey, how about we bring back PVP teams with current modes and new modes in mind?

    The PVP "renaissance" in Endwalker was really spot on. One of the best reworks they ever made to a system in this game, really. Despite some missed beats like the recent Purify change, I think it's still very successful. However, I must agree with the OP about needing more game modes. Especially for a lower player count.

    Doing the same 5x5 'steer the crystal' mode can get old after a while. I feel we have enough arenas for the time being, the resources could be channeled into developing a new mode for a similar player count.

    How about a Feast ressurgence? I liked that mode. Or maybe a 3x3. I really hate Frontlines. Too many people... Would love a big map 10x10 mode instead.

    While I'm here, please add Blue Mage (and Beastmaster ahead) on the PVP ranks. There's absolutely no reasonable argument for the limited jobs to be excluded from it given every job gets their class fantasy completely flipped up for it.

    How do you balance Blue Mage for PVP? Do you think Blue Mage would be a jack of all trades, master of none? Since I recently played some FFV, I would think mighty guard would be the limit break possibly.

    This is something worth considering. The pvp community is bigger then ever. I think they should support it a bit more

    I do wish they would be less creative with PvP modes, yeah. There's a reason stuff like CTF or some control points have been timeless, and it's no surprise their biggest success is basically just payload.

    Yeah, I feel the jack of all trades would be a good archetype, given the job's background.

    I'm not sure how to imagine the full kit, but one could be a given: Aetherial Mimicry - you can use for x seconds an action from the mimicked job. Maybe Diamondback would make more sense than Mighty Guard, probably serving as a second Guard that lasts for less time and makes you immobile.

    Cool Limit Break ideas could also be Bad Breath or Self-destruct. It could certainly be a more tactical spell to use.

    That is the idea of mixing the job with everybody else, but in an interview Yoshida once contemplated about the idea of a BLU-only battle royale type of pvp match where the players need to roam a shrinking stage collecting spells. It reminded me of WoW's Plunderstorm side game, which is almost exactly that. It's a really cool idea too.

    8v8v8 could play similar to frontline naadam. Defense and attack points spawn. Making teams choose to focus on defending, attacking, or dividing to do a mix of both.
    -Each team gains more points the longer they hold an objective, but you have to store those points in a bank (base). Making keeping your home base extremely important.
    -As a backup plan, you can store points in a controlled point instead of your base. The risk to that method, losing that point would give the team who secured the kill the points you accumulated as well as the points for that node. Process on repeat until the node is cashed out. This gives the original team the chance to reclaim what they lost. They can also fully commit to attacking whoever stole their points base instead.
    -You gain a multiplier for successfully holding your base. The multiplier effects the entire teams point gain and charges your base with a kind of battle high that diminishes with the number of teammates standing in the base. Promoting the strong few to keep home safe.
    -Ambitious idea…to make the mode truly unique, instead of fighting crystals or some kind of inanimate object…add NMs. The NMs can clear nodes and steal all the points gathered by the fighting teams. Killing the NM nets you all the rewards it stole plus a bonus for slaughter. The more points it gets the more powerful it gets. They would also be used as a potential rubber band for losing teams if they use strategy.
