Probably the only thing I could really interpret from that is that the 2min meta is staying. The question (if this speculation is right) is how they're going to build up this allegedly de-homogenization around such a strict buff window. All that's telling me is that things aren't going to change at the core, and that's enough to tell me that I won't be satisfied with the direction the game has been going toward, because I'll still be left with vapid action game DDR, rote memorization, fights that get harder and harder and no room for any actual RPG battlesystem whatsoever.
I hope they'll realize that the original players the game attracted were specifically attracted to the game for a model that is NOT compatible with what we're being served right now. If people that are happy with what they currently have will continue to be happy, then I'm afraid I won't be able to be happy myself. There is no in between there. We're not the same audience.
Sorry if that sounds harsh but that's the ugly truth of it.

They can't. The 2-min meta is like a malignant cancer that has metastasize and infected all parts of this game for the worse.
Job design, skill and ability design, character stats, and boss fights are all designed and/or severely limited by the 2-minute combat system.
The devs struggled with this expansion to add any meaningful skills or abilities because most jobs GCD rotations are extremely rigid and already don't have any room to add an additional GCD during fillers without under/overcapping resources, nor do they have any room to add another GCD during their 2-min burst cycle.
Which is why most jobs got boring af oGCDs or some useless ability that doesn't even work in any content.
There is zero room left for job growth with this combat system. If this supposed "big job update" still has 2-min buffs on every job, it just shows how lazy and incompetent these Devs are.

its hard to explain to ppl that didnt play early on, but playing scripted bosses with kinda disorganized jobs felt so much better than now. now you are just playing a scripted 2 min job with scripted bosses and it's so boring. it also killed a lot of variety you used to get by trying bosses on diff jobs. They can't. And not all bosses were completely scripted either, cf Melusine. I'd like more fights with modular smaller gameplay segments that can overlap or just happen in random order.its hard to explain to ppl that didnt play early on, but playing scripted bosses with kinda disorganized jobs felt so much better than now. now you are just playing a scripted 2 min job with scripted bosses and it's so boring. it also killed a lot of variety you used to get by trying bosses on diff jobs.
But that would mean our damage numbers cannot be properly compared to one another and we cannot have that, that would make some people very very sad.
:^)
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

One on hand, I understand the drive of wanting to optimize and really perfect your jobs performance, but at the same time, I feel like the fixation on perfection is something that really stifles job design creativity in this game, but I think the issue is less about the community and more about how the game enables us to clearly structure the “perfect” rotation because of how structured everything is
And then... suddenly we have a cutscene or some boss-untargettable event just before a 2min burst window on normal modes lol.One on hand, I understand the drive of wanting to optimize and really perfect your jobs performance, but at the same time, I feel like the fixation on perfection is something that really stifles job design creativity in this game, but I think the issue is less about the community and more about how the game enables us to clearly structure the “perfect” rotation because of how structured everything is
I do complain about the 2min meta overpowering every aspect of the job's performances, but I still try to play around it, even on normal content, because there's nothing else going on for DPSers.
without fun jobs none of the content is fun!
jobs should have their full rotations on lvl 60 or 70! for a better low lvl experience.
for satisfying glam builduing we need 5 basic glamplates + 2 more for each class / job
pls give us a proper glam collection like every other mmo has.
pls upgrade the gear from normal raid and also alliance-raid by 10 ilvl each.
pls add old glowy ex trial weapons for new jobs!
and for gods sake pls give as the ability to preview any hairstyle on our own character!
It is not a valid point, i was being sarcastic there.
But you know that there is a subset of numbers site users that would grow into a massive hissy fit if there was too much variance in fights (just look at some of the reactions to M2S and M6S). Add to it that it surely feels like a lot of the changes that were made to the games combat systems in the past years were made to specifically cater to that subset, and you will see where I am coming from with that statement.
I just now read the rhetorical question bit and feel a bit silly. I'm gonna keep that post up for people with the same kind of text understanding as I just showed though lol
